Synod Responds to Supreme Court Ruling
Synod President Matthew C. Harrison released a message following the June 26, 2015, decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to recognize the legality of same-gender marriages across the country. Pastors are encouraged to read his message and also have their congregational leadership review the sample marriage policy provided by Synod if this has not already been done. Other resources on this issue are available on the Synod President's blog site (scroll to bottom of article).

JOY Is Emotional Harmony
It's storm season here in the Midwest. It's amazing how quickly the weather can change. Tornado. Relationships have an "atmosphere" also, don't they?

Smile!
All these increased communications in your church mean more photos of you going out. Some people hate it. Found online, here are a couple tips to make you "look more amazing" in your photos. Yes, you could think of it as "worldly and vain" but the communication explosion is part of life today and a little preparation might make you feel more comfortable with it.
  1. Practice Your Pose - Look in the mirror and figure out which angle, which smile, etc., works best for you; then go right to that when you are in front of a camera.
  2. Twist to Look Slimmer - Instead of full front, turn (head/body) at an angle to the camera. Pretty simple.
  3. Tilt Your Head - Actually, stretching your neck up and then slightly tilting the jaw down with eyes into the camera works as a "good look" for most people.
  4. Turn off the Flash - Using natural light makes a person look more photogenic.
  5. Smile and Be Yourself - Let the positive side of your personality come through.

Enough said?
