Persuade an Orange Job Interviewer

  Orange behavior

Here is what a job interviewer who happens to be an Impulsive Orange is looking for. IMPORTANT: Back up these answers with high energy -- both in your tone and body language!

1. Can you see immediate needs and take action right now?

2. Do you think and live "in the now"?

3. How realistic and concrete is your thinking, and are you willing to get your hands dirty?

4. Are you a person with real skills and do you have street smarts?

5. What is your real track record?

6. Can I trust count on you to get the job done without babysitting by me?

7. Are you exciting me, or are you boring me?

8. Do you know which rules matter, and which don't?

9. When we play like a team, are you ready to play right?

10. When change happens quickly, can you deal with it?

Four Types of Interviewers

The handy list above focused on Orange "Impulsive" interviewers. SUGGESTION: Write out your practice answers to typical interview questions, then use these last four issues (go to archives) as a checklist to check how well you may be appealing to ALL FOUR COLORS!

The Impulsive. 30% of Interviewers.

1. Can you get your hands dirty?

2. Will I get fast action from you?

3. Can I let you run with the ball?

4. Can this interview be quick?

The Idealist. 15% of Interviewers.

1. How warm and friendly are you?

2. Do people come first?

3. Are everybody's ideas welcome?

4. Do you have integrity and do you believe in a business with integrity?

The Expert. 10% of Interviewers.

1. What do you know?

2. How smart are you?

3. Where's the meat?

4. Are you worthy of my time?

The Careful. 45% of Interviewers.

1. Who else knows you?

2. How respected and respectful are you?

3. Do you think concretely?

4. Do I get real value here?

Why is this so important? In brief, ask yourself if your words, tone and body language convey positive respect for the values, needs, and strengths of each of the four types? Just try out the list above as your "cleanup" checklist when creating the final draft of practice answers for that next interview panel.

Oh yeah, and write me when you land that job!
