Moore Farms
Orders This Week
Our $20 Farmer Pick box full of Summer this week!
Another wonderful cool break in the weather just perks people and plants up on the farm. All went pretty much as our farmers planned this week, we hope you all enjoy our Good Food!

New Member Welcome and Pickup Location Updates
We had quite a rash of New Members join our Online Market this week! The Clifton Schools had a big surge with 9 new Members, yay! Cox Communications orders were way up and several other sites had many more orders than usual. In fact, we sold out of all of our Farmer Pick Orders Tuesday morning! Now we need to see some upticks at both Turner Broadcasting locations (CNN and Techwood). Both have been way below our minimum of ten orders per week for some time (we have to have at least 10 orders just to cover delivery costs). If you're a fan of ours at Turner please help us spread the word! We are baffled that there are not dozens and dozens of folks over there who would enjoy our local organic foods. We don't give up easily but ya'll need to order if you want us to keep coming!

Summer Investment Incentive Results
Many thanks to our wonderful Members who signed up for our Investment Program this month. Our seasonal incentive benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank: we will make a $400 food donation from our farmers in your names. Cheers to Good Food For All, ya'll!

Cabbage: Summer's Salad
Will's Baked Cabbage is easy and tasty!
We heard from a few Members this week asking for more ways to enjoy the Cabbage we have included in our boxes lately. We use Cabbage on the farm as our Summer Salad base! Until the Fall Lettuces get going again we make and enjoy Slaw every week. You can make a regular Cabbage Slaw but why not liven it up? Try one of the fantastic Atlanta Fresh Yogurt Salad Dressings instead of plain mayo (Chipoltle Lime = yum!). Finely chop Onions and Peppers to add some more crunch and use some different seasonings. Ground Cumin and Chili Powder make a great Slaw to go with or on Tacos and we often use Asian flavors for our Slaw Salads (Soy Sauce, Garlic, Ginger, Sesame Oil and Fish Sauce you cannot go wrong). Red and Green Cabbage can be sued interchangeably though the Red Cabbage is more nutrient dense. You don't have to cook Cabbage, try making a batch of Slaw, it only gets better as the week goes on. Of course we have a few favorites for other Cabbage based dishes: Cabbage Koftas are fantastic (well worth the time to make) this recipe was introduced to us by a longtime Member and also works well with Squash; Stuffed Cabbage (our version has a creamy sauce); why not try some Homemade Egg Rolls? They are fun to make ad eat for kids and adults alike. Finally, for a quick cooked Cabbage dish try Will's Baked Cabbage: Wash, trim and chop 4 cups of Cabbage. Wash, trim and chop 1-2 Tomatoes for 1 cup. In a skillet saute Cabbage and Tomato together with 2T Olive Oil, salt and pepper. Cook until they just start to get tender, pour into a baking dish. Top with grated cheese and bake for 20 minutes on 350 degrees. He likes the Wright Dairy Fontina for this. Simple and tasty as a side dish or for a meal its great with chicken or fish and rice.

Weekly Recipe
Garlicky Green BeansGrilled Green Beans
With a dash of Soy Sauce and Newell Farms Heirloom Garlic plain old Green Beans become a stellar side or add Tofu or Chicken with rice for a delicious dinner.

1. Wash, trim and slice Green Beans to desired bite-sized pieces.

2. Trim and slice 1 clove Garlic very thinly.

3. Heat 2T Olive Oil in a skillet on medium-high heat. Add Green Beans and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper then add sliced Garlic for the last minute of cooking. Be sure not to cook the garlic too long or it will burn and can taste bitter.

4. Cover and turn off heat to steam Beans until just tender and serve.

Is Organic Better?
There have always been heated debates about the answer to this question. A big part of the controversy is because until about 10 years ago there were virtually no studies comparing the benefits of Organic versus Conventional foods.
The first breakthrough we knew of was Consumer Reports which came out with their analysis of chemical residues on Conventional produce about a decade ago (dozens of compounds on some items!).  More recently some university studies have led folks to believe there is not any measurable difference in the nutritional quality of Organic foods.
A brand-new Washington State University report is the most comprehensive we have read.
Many thanks to Member Helen Andrasko who sent us this info, it's fascinating research and analysis that everyone should take a few minutes to read!
