Safety and Precautions

As you go on with your day-to-day routines, a lot of things can slip your mind. One of the things that should not slip your mind is the safety of your store. There are many things that could happen to your store that are out of control, but there are many things you CAN stay on top of and prevent. This week, we are going to briefly look at a few of these things you can stay on top of without very much effort and it will make you sleep better at night.

Preventative Measures

There are a few things you can do before they happen that will go a very long way. The first thing that I will mention is to ensure your UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) is plugged in, devices are plugged into it correctly, and the UPS still has a good battery. The devices should be plugged into the side that says something about "Battery Backup." The best way to test this is to plug the devices in the UPS and unplug it from the wall and see if the devices stay on.
Another thing you can do is ensure you have your data backed up properly. Back in eNews #91, we talked about our new data backup service. A link to that newsletter is here.

Finally, make sure you have an active and up-to-date anti-virus program. There have been reports of at least two stores getting attacked by a "cryptolocker" virus that locks your system and asks for a ransom to unlock it. An article about this virus is located here
If you have any suggestions for future newsletters and/or feedback, please feel free to email me. Your feedback is what helps us grow and assist you as your Point of Sale software provider!
