Spring is Coming, Water is Flowing
|
First, I would like to welcome all the new viewers to my newsletter, and encourage you to go to my web site and view all the previous newsletters.
As happens this time of year as the weather gets warmer, but the ground is still frozen, the ground next to the foundation thaws first, and with melting snow and increased rain fall, the water will go to the area it can be absorbed into the ground.
If you have a finished basement, you can not see if water has entered through a crack in the foundation that may have developed over the winter months. Utilizing my high tech infrared camera, which allows me to see into the walls, I can determine if there is any water entry and the location.
Mold can be one of the problems that can develop if this condition is not corrected as soon as possible. If you have gutters on your house, make sure they are clean as this helps to move that roof water away from the house and the foundation.
Please keep me in mind for any of your inspection needs.
I am in my tenth year of doing home inspections here in the Capital District, with over 3,000 inspections completed. |
