Hello and Happy New Year!
We hope that your 2014 is off to a great start!

December 20 was a wonderful evening, bringing together people of all ages, in art and community! It was the holiday Art Walk at Towles Court, a festive and lively occasion.

Reflecting on the evening after a few weeks have passed, we appreciate that so many diverse elements came together in the spirit of generosity and gratitude. We felt the magic building in our space, as Connie Manson and Peter Chin began
setting up for the Starlite Puppets performance that kicked off our evening. We were all delighted by the heart-and-soul-filled story that emerged through Connie's characters. As the puppet performance came to a close, the children seemed to gravitate naturally to the painting wall and the blank canvas stretched there. The kids did most of the painting on this first layer. We wonder- what will happen to this painting next?
Meanwhile over in the Towles Courtyard, our friends and colleagues Cynthia Bydlinkski, Marcia Calderon, and Donna Papenhausen volunteered their time to engage
art walk visitors in the ongoing IMAGINE Project, creating
collaborative art in response to the prompt
"Imagine....bringing light to the world".  There were some lovely and heartfelt contributions to this ongoing project.
See more about the IMAGINE Project here.

Pieter Diffenverfer and Richard Johnson's guitars provided the perfect soundscape for the event.

The whole evening was an example of the energy and synergy that occur when people come together around a common love or purpose, and it was touching to be a part of. We are grateful for each person who brought their skill, willingness and generosity to the evening and for all our friends - old and new - who showed up!

Those who generously volunteered their time and talents - Connie Manson, Peter Chin,
Cynthia Bydlinski, Muff Calderon, Donna Papenhausen are each doing some great work in our community. Learn more here.

Student Accommodation Needed
We are looking for resources for our out-of-town Certificate students. Hotels in Sarasota are high-priced, and our students are searching out affordable alternatives. Do you have accommodation that you would like to add to our housing list? Our intensives are generally in April, October, and January, and our students are looking for 4-5 days, and sometimes up to 2 weeks. Let us know if you have an apartment or room for rent, or to share. Thanks!

"I am not an artist."

Yes, we hear you.  You are not an artist.  But listen.  You are creative.  And you know Muff_Cynthia what?  You were meant to explore your creativity for your own well-being and the well-being of those who surround you.

Believing the most powerful and transformative art comes from within, we have designed a special 1 hour expressive arts gathering, From The Heart, to connect you to the joy of your own creativity in your own home with your own friends.  (Sure, artist friends are welcome, too.)

Our From the Heart expressive arts gathering is $20 per person with a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 participants.  Affordable, right?  We thought so, too.

This is the creative invitation you've been waiting for.  Contact Cynthia Bydlinski at CBydlinski@gmail.com and Marcia Calderon at MuffinFL2@aol.com. We're Expressive Arts Facilitators and we'll figure out all the important details together with you.

Donna Papenhausen
"I am excited to announce the opening of my studio -
Wind Horse Studio- a place for making art, deepening your Spirit, and enhancing your creativity!  I danced and dreamed about my studio last year at the intentions gathering and had no idea it would become a reality so quickly.  So be careful what you dream, it may just materialize!  Wind Horse Studio is located at 5690 Derek Ave. in Sarasota.   I look forward to seeing you as I begin to offer play dates and workshops in the year ahead.

The church I belong to, St. Andrew United Church of Christ, on Beneva Road,  has received a grant from our denomination to offer a program we call SALSA, St. Andrew Lively Student Art.  The church has asked me to facilitate this program and I am very excited.  SALSA is a weekly Expressive Arts  program for children in grades K-6, to meet from 3:00-5:30 each Wednesday in Stewart Hall.  The cost is $2.00 per child per week.  For more information or to register, call 941-928-8589."
