Apostasy Now
Let no one in any way deceive you, for it [the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him (2 Thes 2:1)] will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, - 2 Thessalonians 2:3
`Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, - Revelation 3:17

Shalom in Christ Jesus,
This alert includes recent commentaries by Jacob Prasch as well as various articles that relate to the apostasy that has clearly commenced in the church. The goal of alerts such as this is to bring conviction to as many believers as possible of the late hour, to encourage the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom, to get prepared for persecution and to make sure we are dressed in the garments of salvation awaiting the soon return of Christ. Also included are a few recent teachings/prophecy updates from Jacob to encourage you during these last days as each one seems to grow darker and events sometimes more frightening and sometimes more bizarre than the previous. and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. - Hebrews 10:24-25 Be Alert!
May the Lord bless and keep you,
Scott Brisk

The Irish Same Sex Marriage Referendum: The Social, Political, and Religious Reality
| MORIEL MINISTRIES - By James Jacob Prasch - May 23, 2015 The Republic of Ireland has become the first nation to legalize same sex marriage by public referendum with 60% of the Irish people voting for the necessary constitutional change. Like the prevalence of alcoholism and pedophilia, widespread homosexuality and lesbianism has long been sociologically endemic in Irish Catholicism as a cultural trait, especially among the Irish Roman Catholic clergy.
The discrediting of the Roman Catholic church due to virtually every bishop in Ireland being found culpable in the protection of pedophile clergy at the expense of not protecting the victims - Ireland's children - has led to the decreased political and social influence of the Roman Catholic church in a national heritage where the real seat of Irish government was not in its capital Dublin but in the theocratic base of Menuth (Maynooth) where Ireland trained its priests. As many have observed:"The Roman Catholic church has never done anything for Ireland except corrupt her government, exploit her people, and molest her children." The contemporary expression of Irish Republicanism took on a strong identification with Roman Catholicism where such Republican leaders as the father and brother of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams were legally found implicated in serial pedophilia.
When the current Pope Francis, whom as Arch Bishop of Buenos Aires refused to meet with the families of the victims of pedophilia perpetrated by Roman Catholic clergy before becoming the Roman pontiff decided to ignore the New Testament teaching in Romans chapter 1` and stated "who am I to judge" concerning homosexual relationships, it set the stage for a transition among Roman Catholics on the issue of, homosexuality. Roman Catholic traditionalists protested that "the pope did not formally revise the official Roman Catholic teaching on homosexuality and lesbianism" while the progressives and homosexuals & lesbians within Roman Catholicism stated that he in effect did. The confusion, ambiguity, and the blatant religious hypocrisy of such theocratic politics in speaking out of both sides of his mouth demonstrated that the voice of the pope provides no clear moral direction just as the moral authority of Roman Catholicism was eroded by the global pedophilia scandals.
No place has this outrageous scandal of pedophilia had more impact however than in Ireland and in the USA where a disproportionately high percentage of the clergy found in sex crimes against children were perpetrated by Irish American priests and nuns, as well as their protectors and de facto enablers such as cardinals Law and Mahony. Being half Irish myself I had witnessed the perverse character of Irish Catholicism and the cruelty it has inflicted on the Irish people and their children, but the recent Irish vote is a major game changer. The Roman Catholic church opposed the legalization of same sex marriage. Historically, as long as homosexuality and lesbianism were illegal in Ireland (which was the case up until 22 years ago) the ranks of Irish priests and nuns would have recruits and Menuth would have new priests to ordain.
In Irish Catholic culture the priesthood and various religious orders placed Irish homosexuals (many of them forcibly introduced to homosexuality by the priests who raped them when they were in Catholic schools or were altar boys) into its clergy as a safe haven in an all male environment where they would dress in vestments as a socially acceptable form of cross dressing, and sins of perversion were protected in secrecy by the vow of the confessional. Lesbians likewise would enter convents as novices in an all female environment where the initiates would take their heads shaved or cut short to look like men and what was referred to as 'special friendships' could take place. Masculinized nuns would take their vows assuming alias male names such as "Sister Michael Patrick" while the submissive feminine type lesbians could choose female names such as "Sister Mary Elizabeth". As was exposed in films such as 'The Magdalene Sisters' and 'The Raggedy Boys', the sadomasochistic elements and abusive relationship dimension to the homosexual and lesbian lifestyle favored by some homosexuals and lesbians could be played out under the cover of religion. The change in the law in Ireland is a death knell to such convent and monastery recruitment as such institutions are no longer the only legally and culturally avenues available.
Most criminal statistics moreover show that up to 80% of the cases of clerical pedophilia are of a non heterosexual nature and teaching positions in the Catholic school system were the vehicles for getting sexual access to children. Now rights of adoption and possibly artificial insemination will replace this function of Roman Catholic education in Ireland and children will simply be raised legally and openly in a homosexual or lesbian family environment free to enter that lifestyle under the influence of parental example instead of the baby raping that had gone in shielded by the church and Irish government in Roman Catholic schools, orphanages, and other institutions. Recruitment into "religious vocations" can only further decline without the homosexual and lesbian candidacy.
This vote marks an end to the legacy of Ireland's first Prime Minister Eaman De Valera, a New Yorker whom the British could not execute after the Easter Uprising due to his American passport. De Valera was a recognized stooge for the Vatican taking his orders directly from the Roman Catholic hierarchy where the Irish Republic was a thinly disguised theocracy and the elected government a mere front for the dictates of the Roman Catholic church.
It is therefore our prediction, that the Roman Catholic church will functionally cave in on its previous objections to homosexuality and lesbianism because of a "Realpolitik" that will force it to amend its dogma to accommodate the tide of change in order to best preserve its financial and political interests. The Roman Catholic church will have no real problem in incorporating these changes because it has never truly opposed homosexuality and lesbianism to begin with. Criminalization of homosexuality and lesbianism were simply useful legal devices to help fill its convents, monasteries, and rectories. If The Roman Catholic church in Ireland had actually succeeded in eradicating homosexuality and lesbianism in Irish society they would would not have themselves existed due to a lack of clergy.

Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa's confusing cascade into the abyss
Can I Attend My LGBT Friend's Wedding?
|
CALVARY CHAPEL COSTA MESA - By Brian Brodersen
[Ed Note: Below is a commentary by Brian Brodersen, Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, entitled Can I Attend My LGBT Friend's Wedding? Additionally is the link to his follow up blog (due to a blitzkrieg of comments pointing out his error). I have included one response in particular that clearly points out why Brian's position is wrong and not backed up by Scripture. Also, you may want to look at Lighthouse Trails commentary on the subject in which I have provided the link. Unfortunately, we have become so bombarded with propaganda from all directions on this issue (including the church) that it gets confusing, especially reading something like this from Brian Brodersen, a stellar example of error being put down alongside truth in order to deceive (whether intentional or unintentional, because the one deceiving is himself deceived).]
That is a question most pastors never dreamed they'd be asked. Yet in the past several months I have been asked that question three or four times, and I'm sure with the current state of affairs, questions like that are only going to become more frequent. So what is a Christian to do if they are asked to attend a same-sex wedding? Let me say right from the start, I don't think there is one stock answer. It would be easy to answer like this: Same-sex marriage is no marriage at all; it's nothing less than sin, and I, as a Christian, will have nothing to do with anything like that.
Strictly speaking, that would be a perfectly legitimate biblical response. The Bible knows nothing of same-sex marriage. According to the Bible, marriage is exclusively the union between a man and a woman; all same-sex sexual relationships are clearly and unequivocally condemned in Scripture as sinful and needing to be repented of. But even with that being the case, I don't know that a Christian's response would always necessarily have to be along those lines. Could there be a circumstance where, for the purpose of showing the unconditional love of Christ and the abundant grace of God toward sinners, the Lord might lead some of us to go to such an event? I don't know. But think about this. Paul said to the Corinthians: "I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world ... since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother (or sister) who is sexually immoral ... not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges" (1 Corinthians 5:9-13).
Here, it seems to me, are two different approaches to sinful situations. One has to do with those professing Christ who are living in sin; the other has to do with those who are living in sin but make no profession of Christ-they are the "sexually immoral people of this world." For those who profess Christ but persist in sin, Paul said, discontinue associations with them. But for the "sexually immoral people of this world," Paul said that it's God's job to judge them. What then are we to do with them? I believe we are to seek to win them to Christ so they can be saved from judgment. But I can only do that if I have contact with them, preferably the kind of contact that allows me to show them something of God's love and grace. There needs to be a relationship, even a friendship. Jesus was known as the friend of sinners, not because He condoned anyone's sin, but because He associated with sinners and made Himself accessible to them. He bid them come to Him, just as they were, with all of their guilt and sin, and He would forgive them. He would cleanse them.
Perhaps there will be these kinds of occasions for us where we are led by His Spirit to be there among those who are so lost as to think that marrying someone of the same sex is good and right and beautiful. But we know differently, and we know that it's only a matter of time before the truth of the destructive nature of sin begins to show itself in those relationships. Then, who knows? Perhaps because we've loved and prayed for them, they'll turn to us for answers, and we can then point them to Jesus, the Savior, the only One who can fill the emptiness inside and make the crooked places straight.
So what's my answer? Should a Christian attend a same-sex wedding? This is my present perspective on it, and for me it comes down to drawing a distinction between the two groups Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5. If those marrying claim they are believers and that God is leading them to be married, and they are inviting you to come celebrate their love with them, I believe the answer is no; you should not have any part in anything like that. These are the people that Paul said we are to separate from.
But if, on the other hand, the person is a rank-and-file unbeliever, perhaps a relative, an old friend, a work colleague, or whatever the case might be, and they invite you, this is where I would say pray about it and be open to the Lord having you there as part of the "bigger picture" work that He's doing in the lives of those who presently are lost but could one day be found. "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15).

Working Through The Issues: More Thoughts On Attending an LGBT Friend's Wedding
CALVARY CHAPEL COSTA MESA - By Brian Brodersen As some of you know, I wrote an article earlier this week that has attracted a lot of attention. By the number of views and comments, the topic "Can I Attend My LGBT Friend's Wedding?" has obviously struck a nerve in the Christian community. I wanted to follow up with a few thoughts in response to some of the questions that have arisen in relation to the article. ... [...] Concerning the issue of Jesus eating with tax collectors. Yes, I believe that we should be willing to befriend a person of the LGBT persuasion. However, unfortunately I think you're comparing apples to oranges (or maybe pears ☺).
Going to the wedding of two homosexuals is more like sitting at the tax booth with the tax collectors while their robbing people. I have no problem with inviting a homosexual couple to lunch, and making sure that I am influencing them to turn from their sin, as Jesus did with Zaccheus. However, it just so happens that at the wedding of homosexuals they are able to proclaim how proud they are of their sin. I'm sure you would agree that at no point should we give the sinner an opportunity to rejoice in their sin.

Tony Campolo: For the Record
TONY CAMPOLO.org (Tony Compolo's official Blog) June 8, 2015; Tony releases a new statement urging the church to be more welcoming. [...] While I have always tried to communicate grace and understanding to people on both sides of the issue, my answer to that question has always been somewhat ambiguous. One reason for that ambiguity was that I felt I could do more good for my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters by serving as a bridge person, encouraging the rest of the Church to reach out in love and truly get to know them. The other reason was that, like so many other Christians, I was deeply uncertain about what was right. It has taken countless hours of prayer, study, conversation and emotional turmoil to bring me to the place where I am finally ready to call for the full acceptance of Christian gay couples into the Church. ...

THE CHRISTIAN POST - By Anugrah Kumar - May 7, 2015 Pastor Rick Warren spoke to Congress about global health programs Wednesday, saying foreign governments he's worked with are "not nearly as afraid of the Church as" the U.S. government. Along with gay singer Elton John, the megachurch pastor urged lawmakers not to cut AIDS funding. "The actual number of people without faith is quite small outside of Manhattan and parts of Europe," Warren, the founding pastor of California's Saddleback Church, said at a Senate hearing Wednesday on funding global health programs. "And if you want to talk about distribution you have to use faith communities," he told a Senate Appropriations panel. Warren, whose church's Global P.E.A.C.E. plan has sent teams to serve in 197 countries, added, "I've actually found it quite easy to work with other governments. They're not nearly as afraid of the church as the American government is." ... Both Pastor Warren and gay activist and musician Elton John, sitting next to each other at the witness table, asked the panel not to cut AIDS funding to the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, launched by President George W. Bush. Warren and John laughed as they held hands, and as Warren told him jokingly if they kissed it would be "the kiss heard 'round the world." ...

Andy Stanley: Churches Should Be 'Safest Place on the Planet' for Gay Youth
THE CHRISTIAN POST - By Michael Gryboski - April 18, 2015
Pastor Andy Stanley has declared that local congregations should be the "safest place on the planet for students to talk about anything, including same-sex attraction." ... "We just need to decide from now on in our churches when a Middle School kid comes out to his small group leader or a high school young lady comes out to her parents," said Stanley. "We just need to decide, regardless of what you think about this topic - no more students are going to feel like they have to leave the local church because they're same-sex attracted or because they're gay. That ends with us." ... "There is not consensus in this room when it comes to same-sex attraction. There is not consensus in this room when it comes to gay marriage," said Stanley. "We just can't continue to look into the filter of our politics at our spirituality. Its got to be the other way around ... and specifically when it comes to this issue." ... Former Megachurch Pastor Rob Bell Tells Oprah the Church Is 'Moments Away' From Embracing Gay Marriage
THE CHRISTIAN POST - By Leonardo Blair - February 17, 2015 Former Mars Hill Bible Church pastor and best-selling author Rob Bell told media mogul Oprah Winfrey on Sunday that the American church is "moments away" from embracing gay marriage and thinks "it's inevitable." ... "We're close," he began, answering slowly before his wife interjected "I think it's evolving." He then added: "Lots of people are already there. We think it's inevitable and we're moments away from the church accepting it." Bell warned that if the church keeps resisting same-sex marriage it would "continue to be even more irrelevant." "I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life," he said. ...

Teaching: Biblical Marriage and Divorce by James Jacob Prasch
|
Many questions have come up regarding divorce and remarriage. There are certain Cult groups that teach that under NO circumstances should a person (believer or non believer) remarry. They contend that this is adultery and a matter of salvation. This is sweeping through churches and causing a lot of damage to families. Be careful! Let's hear what the Word of God says as Bible expositor and teacher Jacob Prasch breaks down the scriptures. He explains the Judeo-Christian meaning of Matthew 19:9 and how Paul the Apostle applied it to the Corinthian church. Hope you enjoy it!

Christian minister plans to mark Muslim festival of Ramadan
| STUFF.co.nz - NEW ZEALAND [Fairfax-Syme Group] - By Shabnam Dastgheib - June 6, 2015 A Christian minister wants to break down negative stereotypes about Islam and he is going to observe one of the religion's most holy festivals to do it. Francis Ritchie, based at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in east Auckland, will be taking part in the first two weeks of the sacred, month-long event. Ritchie says with recent media hype around a lot of negative events associated with Islam - such as the campaign by Islamic State - it is time to engage in a different way.
Having previously fasted for Lent, Ritchie isn't worried about the practical side of not eating all day but there are a myriad concerns and sensitivities from both Christians and Muslims which he will have to juggle. He is not observing Ramadan as a first step to becoming Muslim nor is he beginning to head down any sort of "strange path" as some have suggested. "I guess there's always concern about engaging something really different. But most people have been really receptive."
Ramadan this year begins on June 17 and runs for 30 days. Observers abstain from food, drink and other pleasures between dawn and dusk. The point is to focus the mind on prayer and spirituality and free it from distractions. Charity is considered a big part and many Muslims choose to donate more than usual during the month. ... Anwar Ghani of the Federation of Islamic Associations says Ritchie is doing a lovely thing to engage with Muslim New Zealanders. Ghani says messages of goodwill are often received from the Vatican and many Christian leaders before and during Ramadan. Ritchie has blogged that he hopes doing Ramadan will help build relationships and understanding between two religions. ...

Vatican finance chief legal threat over 'sociopath' claim
| BBC NEWS [PSB operated by BBC Trust] - June 1, 2015 AUSTRALIA - The Vatican's finance chief George Pell is seeking legal advice after being accused of an "almost sociopathic" approach to child abuse allegations. The allegations from Peter Saunders, a member of the Vatican's own commission on child protection, come as Australia investigates historic abuses. Australian-born Cardinal Pell denies accusations he helped cover up abuses by a paedophile priest. He has offered to testify at the Australian inquiry. Mr Saunders, himself a victim of abuse by a priest, was appointed by Pope Francis last year to the Vatican's new commission to protect children.
He said Cardinal Pell had a "catalogue of denial" about child abuse in the church, which was "making a mockery" of the Vatican's wider abuse investigations. ... A spokesperson for Mr Pell on Monday described the claims as "false and misleading" and said the Cardinal would now consult with his legal advisers. ... Australia is investigating how schools, churches and the government responded to child abuse cases. A royal commission has been hearing testimony from victims in Ballarat in the state of Victoria, where priest Gerald Ridsdale had sexually abused dozens of boys in various parishes between the 1950s and 1970s. Cardinal Pell has been accused of being complicit in moving Ridsdale around the state, and of attempting to bribe Ridsdale's nephew into keeping quiet about his abuse.
Ridsdale, 81, was defrocked and is in jail for more than 140 sexual offences against child victims. He has been testifying at the inquiry. Last Thursday the commission released a letter from Cardinal Pell saying he was "horrified" by the accounts given in Ballarat. The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse was formed in April 2013, following pressure from lawmakers amid police claims that the Roman Catholic Church had concealed evidence of paedophile priests. There were revelations that child abusers were being moved from place to place instead of being reported to and investigated by police for their alleged crimes.

Catholic Archdiocese in Minnesota Charged Over Sex Abuse by Priest
| NEW YORK TIMES [NYTimes Group/Sulzberger] - By Mitch Smith - June 5, 2015 CHICAGO - Prosecutors in Minnesota filed criminal charges on Friday against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, accusing church leaders of mishandling repeated complaints of sexual misconduct against a priest and failing to follow through on pledges to protect children and root out pedophile clergymen.
The charges and accompanying civil petition, announced by the Ramsey County prosecutor, John J. Choi, stem from accusations by three male victims who say that from 2008 to 2010, when they were under age, a local priest, Curtis Wehmeyer, gave them alcohol and drugs before sexually assaulting them.
The criminal case amounts to a sweeping condemnation of the archdiocese and how its leaders have handled the abuse allegations - even after reforms were put in place by church leaders to increase accountability - and the charges are among the most severe actions taken by American authorities against a Catholic diocese.
"Today, we are alleging a disturbing institutional and systemic pattern of behavior committed by the highest levels of leadership of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis over the course of decades," Mr. Choi said in a statement.
Mr. Wehmeyer, 50, who was dismissed as a priest in March, was sentenced to five years in a Minnesota prison in 2013 for criminal sexual conduct and possession of child pornography. He also has been charged with sex crimes in Wisconsin.
The six criminal charges filed Friday, misdemeanors with a maximum fine of $3,000 each, accused the archdiocese of failing to protect children. ...

Robert Schuller Dead
| MORIEL MINISTRIES - By James Jacob Prasch - April 2, 2015
What a terrible loss to the cause of the antichrist!
* Now Mr. Schuller can explain to Jesus why he taught his followers on TV that Jesus went to the cross "in order to magnify His ego".
* He can also tell why Jesus when the Islamic Grand Mufti of Damascus preached in the Chrystal Cathedral that he said "he would not mind if his Grandchildren became Moslems".
* He can further tell Jesus why when the pedophile protecting pope came to LA he said "we must ask the Holy Father the way home" after Jesus said to call no man on earth your Father in a religious or spiritual sense.
Of course not long after that, the Chrystal Cathedral was at home with the pope; the Roman Catholic Arch Diocese bought it for a song after Schuller's ministry collapsed $56 million in debt much to the chagrin and annoyance of devotees who paid astronomical sums of money to get their names etched on a pane of Chrystal. I guess Schuller didn't really trust in his 'Positive Thinking' psycho-babel that he copied from 33rd degree free mason Norman Vincent Peale at Marble Collegiate Church in my native New York. Before he died The Lord had Schuller watch his empire built on deception and spiritual seduction crumble. This was Divine justice indeed. May the other 'Market Driven' churches that Mr. Schuller's influence engendered wind up likewise unless they repent.
I recall that Mr.Schuller bad mouthed my dear friend and brother Dave Hunt (whom I really loved and respected) viciously. Brother Dave had nothing to explain when he checked out. Jesus welcomed him home personally saying: "Well Done Good & Faithful Servant".
The real tragedy is that Mr. Schuller actually began preaching the true Gospel and people were actually saved through his ministry in its earlier days. May The Lord in His grace keep the rest of us from going off the rails and misleading His people with Satan's lies as Schuller did. The bottom line is that when we stand before The Lord I would rather be in the shoes of Dave Hunt whom Robert Schuller condemned than in the shoes of Robert Schuller who condemned Dave. But we will each be in our own shoes.
We are better asking The Lord to remove us from ministry now than beginning well but ending in heretical scandal perverting and discrediting the Gospel as Robert Schuller undeniably did.
May The Lord show us mercy.
On Thu, Apr 2, 2015 at 5:49 PM, Robert Schuller dies. This man single handedly caused major apostasy in the church. I wonder who will be singing his praises now that he is standing before Jesus to give account.

Robert Schuller, Crystal Cathedral megachurch founder, dies
|
ASSOCIATED PRESS - April 2, 2015 The Rev. Robert H. Schuller, the Southern California televangelist and author who beamed his upbeat messages on faith and redemption to millions from his landmark Crystal Cathedral only to see his empire crumble in his waning years, has died. He was 88.
Schuller died early Thursday at a care facility in Artesia, daughter Carol Schuller Milner said. In 2013, Schuller was diagnosed with a tumor in his esophagus that had spread to his lymph nodes and began treatment.
Once a charismatic and well-known presence on the televangelist circuit, Schuller faded from view in recent years after watching his church collapse amid a disastrous leadership transition and sharp declines in viewership and donations that ultimately forced the ministry to file for bankruptcy.
The soaring, glass-paned Crystal Cathedral -- the touchstone of Schuller's storied ministry -- was sold to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange in 2011, and Schuller lost a legal battle the following year to collect more than $5 million from his former ministry for claims of copyright infringement and breach of contract. ...
Schuller's evangelical Protestant ministry, part of the Reformed Church in America, was a product of modern technology. He and his late wife, Arvella, an organist, started a ministry in 1955 with $500 when he began preaching from the roof of a concession stand at a drive-in movie theater southeast of Los Angeles.
The church's motto -- "Come as you are in the family car" -- tapped into the burgeoning Southern California auto culture and the suburban boom of post-World War II America.
By 1961, the church had a brick-and-mortar home -- a "walk-in/drive-in church" -- and Schuller began broadcasting the "Hour of Power" in 1970.
In 1980, he built the towering glass-and-steel Crystal Cathedral to house his booming TV ministry, which was broadcast live each week from the cathedral's airy and sunlit 2,800-seat sanctuary. At its peak, in the 1990s, the program had 20 million viewers in about 180 countries.
Schuller's message -- that "Possibility Thinking" and love of God overcome hardships -- was a uniquely American blend of Bible and psychology. It was inspired by late author Norman Vincent Peale, who wrote "The Power of Positive Thinking." Schuller also wrote more than 30 books, including several best-sellers. ...
Fundamentalists attacked him as a heretic and humanist for statements they believed denied the need for personal repentance of sin and for his tolerance of Jewish, Roman Catholic and other theologies. ...

Pew: Atheists, agnostics surge
| THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER, Wash, D.C. [Clarity Media Group] - By Paul Bedard - May 12, 2015 While America is a very long way from becoming "Godless," the trend away from Christianity has been confirmed by the Pew Research Foundation's massive survey of 35,000. ...
- The Christian share of America is down 7.8 percent since 2007, from 78 million to 70 million, led by a drop on self-declared Protestants and Catholics.
- The share of Americans "unaffiliated" with any church is soaring, up 6.7 percent to 23 million.
- Atheists are up 1.5 percent to 3.1 million.
- Agnostics are up 1.6 percent to 4 million.
- Non-Christian faiths are up 1.2 percent.
- Marriage between those with different religions has doubled.
Pew reported that the trend away from religion is led by younger Americans.
"While many U.S. religious groups are aging, the unaffiliated are comparatively young - and getting younger, on average, over time. As a rising cohort of highly unaffiliated Millennials reaches adulthood, the median age of unaffiliated adults has dropped to 36, down from 38 in 2007 and far lower than the general (adult) population's median age of 46. By contrast, the median age of mainline Protestant adults in the new survey is 52 (up from 50 in 2007), and the median age of Catholic adults is 49 (up from 45 seven years earlier)," said the new report.
What's more, old rules frowning on intermarriage between religions are pretty much dead, and the trend is on the rise.
"Among Americans who have gotten married since 2010, nearly four-in-ten (39%) report that they are in religiously mixed marriages, compared with 19% among those who got married before 1960. The rise in intermarriage appears to be linked with the growth of the religiously unaffiliated population. Nearly one-in-five people surveyed who got married since 2010 are either religiously unaffiliated respondents who married a Christian spouse or Christians who married an unaffiliated spouse. By contrast, just 5% of people who got married before 1960 fit this profile," said Pew.

Map: The most religious states in America
With the exception of Utah, the top 12 most religious states in the nation are all in the South.
But Utah stands alone, according to the results of a Gallup survey of more than 175,000 Americans last year. That state sits atop the list and is the only one in the nation where more than half-51 percent-of those surveyed reported attending church every week. New England and the West dominated the bottom 10 states, with Vermonters reporting the lowest church attendance, of just 17 percent. In Washington, D.C., 23 percent of residents reported weekly attendance. ... Barna: Many pastors wary of raising 'controversy'
Many theologically conservative pastors agree the Bible speaks to key issues of the day, but research indicates only a handful of them say they will speak to it. See Here
Going to hell in a handbasket: Younger Americans lose faith in the Bible
More Americans are doubting the infallibility of the Bible, treating it as a guidebook rather than the actual words of God, according to a survey released Wednesday.
The State of the Bible survey, conducted by the Barna Group and the American Bible Society, shows that 19 percent of American adults are "skeptical" about the Bible and 19 percent are "engaged" with the book. See Here

"This church has obviously discovered what we in the industry call the Disneyfication of religious services."
How Elevation Church, Pastor Furtick produce 'spontaneous' baptisms
|
| Elevation Church Baptism Collage |
The spontaneous baptism how-to guide describes its purpose as to "pull off our part in God's miracle." Church leaders have repeatedly referred to the mass response as a "miracle." But the guide reveals plenty of human staging.
WCNC-TV NBC6 CHARLOTTE, NC - By Staff - February 20, 2014
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- [...] [B]aptism the sacred Christian rite symbolizing being raised to a new life in Jesus Christ is clearly vital to Elevation. Online videos of Elevation's mass baptisms play rising music as they show slow motion shots of people obviously moved by a religious experience meaningful to them.
Elevation Church keeps an exact count of its thousands of baptisms, all part of its laser like focus on numbers. ...
To get those thousands of baptisms takes a lot of planning.
And Elevation produced a document to show other churches how they could do likewise.
It s titled Spontaneous Baptisms A How-To Guide and the church shared it freely on the Sun Stand Still website.
But parts of the mass baptism guide have drawn sharp criticism from other Christians.
Page one shows that the first people instructed to respond to Pastor Steven s call to baptism were not converts suddenly inspired but Elevation volunteers carefully planted in the crowd. ...
The guide instructs, Fifteen people will sit in the worship experience and be the first ones to move when Pastor gives the call. Move intentionally through the highest visibility areas and the longest walk.
They had people in the crowd stand up who never intended to be baptized, said James Duncan, a communications professor at Anderson University and critic of Furtick. They were shilling for Steven and the intent was these shills stand up and everybody else follows.
Duncan blogged about the baptism guide in a post he titled, How Steven Furtick engineered a miracle.
Although Furtick says this is a miracle, it s not a miracle, Duncan said. It s emotional manipulation.
The spontaneous baptism how-to guide describes its purpose as to pull off our part in God s miracle. Church leaders have repeatedly referred to the mass response as a miracle. But the guide reveals plenty of human staging.
Most people would not want to be seen as manipulating a group because then you would have questions of authenticity, said Rev. David Key, who teaches Baptist studies at Emory University s Candler School of Theology.
Rev. Key compares the mass baptism service to a show at Disneyworld. This church has obviously discovered what we in the industry call the Disneyfication of religious services.
More stage instructions tell volunteers to go to staging rooms outfitted with towels, pre-printed t-shirts, sports bras, boxers, makeup remover, hair-dryers and flip-flops. Volunteers are instructed to pick young energetic people to go on stage first to be baptized and not necessarily those who are there first.
Think of the room in terms of a NASCAR pit stop, the guide reads. Quick in and quick out.
It takes 30 to 45 seconds to baptize each person as church photographers snap photos.
More volunteers are told, You are looking for one or two great stories in your group. When you ID those individuals, place a black wrist band on them so that the video crew can interview them....
The guide then tells the media team to be mining great stories and pushing them up to the video crew. ...

HARPAZO The Intra-Seal Rapture of the Church
NOW AVAILABLE!
| When it comes to books devoted to eschatology in general and the Rapture specifically, they often either read like a formal academic argument written solely for the benefit of scholars or employ the use of fiction to avoid directly handling the underlying biblical text. As with Jacob's previous books and exhaustive list of sermons covering nearly every area of theology, Harpazo presents the doctrine of the Rapture and Resurrection in the strictest biblical sense possible, leveraging the handling of Scripture in the same manner as passed along to us by Christ through the Apostles and Early Church of the 1st century. ...
