It's been a busy year for our Advocacy and Outreach Committee! At Jungle Friends, we are not only dedicated to providing the highest level of care for the animals living at the sanctuary, we are also committed to improving the lives of all animals, both captive and wild. If you're interested in joining this committee, please Contact Us.

In just a few weeks, I will be packing my bags and heading north to Washington DC to attend the Taking Action For Animals" Workshop, sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States. This conference aims to educate animal lovers about the many ways we can influence policy and be more effective advocates for our furry and feathered friends. On the final day of the conference, I will be meeting with Ted Yoho, our local Congressman, as well as others on Capital Hill to encourage Congress to say YES to the Captive Primate Safety Act!

Many thanks to those who helped Jungle Friends speak out AGAINST the Banana Derby last October! Because of your support, all Non-Human Primate Acts have been BANNED from the Alachua County Fair! This victory wouldn't have been possible if not for your support- thank you to everyone who contacted the County Commissioners and went to the County Fair to speak out against this cruelty! For more information about captive primate issues visit North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance to read our position papers.

Even though our hands are full with our primate pals, Jungle Friends has great respect for our local wildlife. As such, we will be participating in the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's forum next month to discuss why we are AGAINST further Black Bear Hunts this October. Last year, nearly 300 black bears were killed, including mothers who left their cubs behind. At Jungle Friends, we often see the effects that being motherless has on the monkeys, help us speak out against this senseless hunt by contacting FWC!

But wait, there's more...as you may know, Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary is a vegan organization and we have film screenings, book signings, and even cooking classes in our new Van Clan Conference Center. Our next event is our Cowspiracy Screening. We hope you will join us in two weeks at the sanctuary to watch this most important film.

We are also planning our very first Vegan Retreat, so please Contact Us if you are interested in attending or helping to plan the retreat. This will be in collaboration with the In Defense of Animals Sustainable Activism Council!

As you can see, there are many ways to get involved and be a voice for animals -- join our Advocacy and Outreach Committee, attend screenings and events, volunteer, or make a Donation to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary.
