It's almost my birthday! As I turn 60 this month, I realize that I have been caring for monkeys for more than a third of my life, yikes! The past 20 years has been the most rewarding and the most challenging time of my life. And, this past year -- WOW!
I feel like I received an early birthday present when four labs asked if their monkeys could retire here at Jungle Friends. To be honest, 200 monkeys being released to Jungle Friends is kind of scary, but we are up to the task, and the monkeys need us!
So, I have just one wish for my 60th birthday -- for $7,500 to buy specialized medical equipment for the new clinic. Please give to my birthday wish to help!
A super-generous donation from Bob Barker made this clinic possible. Some local organizations have made big contributions as well: - The Dharma Foundation contributed funds for computer equipment and clinic software.
- Regenerative Biologics, Inc. donated loads of medical supplies and furniture.
- Specialty Fence as always is contributing materials and labor, and BBI Construction Management is giving us a discount on the building.
- We will also be receiving a grant to hire our very own on-site veterinarian! (We love Dr. Schirmer, but it's very stressful for sick monkeys to take a 40-minute car ride to get to him.)
We have so many fabulous supporters making our dream of a new clinic come true. Won't you dream with us and donate to my birthday wish?
P.S. I don't need birthday presents. I have everything I need. But the monkeys don't have everything they need! Please donate to my birthday wish here or using the form on our website. | We have to improvise a lot in the clinic, like this home-made oxygen tent made of clear plastic. Kendra slept on a cot beside Sarah last night and barely had room to move. I can't wait to have more space for monkeys... and storage... and an office/bunk room so we can sleep with sick monkeys and observe them without disturbing them! |
