Claritycon2016 Thursday keynote speaker is adolescence expert Laurence Steinberg, PhD
Laurence Steinberg, PhD, is one of the world's leading experts on adolescence and is the Distinguished University Professor of Psychology at Temple University. He is the author of approximately 400 articles and essays on development during the teenage years, and the author or editor of 17 books, including You and Your Adolescent: The Essential Guide for Ages 10 to 25, The 10 Basic Principles of Good Parenting, and Adolescence, the leading college textbook on the subject.
Dr. Steinberg's research has focused on a range of topics, including adolescent brain development, risk-taking and decision-making, family and peer relationships, school achievement and juvenile justice. He is a featured guest on numerous television programs and a consultant on adolescence for print and electronic media.
His latest book, and topic of his keynote presentation, is Age of Opportunity: Lessons From the New Science of Adolescence.
Claritycon2016 is Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17 at the new Norris Conference Center, on Loop 410, near Blanco Road.

UT Health Science Center CAMBIO Program offers no cost adolescent substance abuse treatment
The UT Health Science Center at San Antonio has a new, confidential, no cost substance abuse treatment program for teens with marijuana, alcohol or other drug problems. The CAMBIO Program provides comprehensive assessment and intervention for families who are uninsured or receiving Medicaid benefits.
The 10-session program includes an assessment, weekly counseling for the teen and parent/guardian, milestone incentives, bilingual staff, and transportation if needed.
Free Special Education Support Services Class for parents this Saturday, February 20 at Clarity CGC
Brighton Center, in partnership with Clarity CGC will present a free parent training program focused on helping parents and their children navigate the education system. The program is called Special Education Support Services (SESS) and includes Special Education Law and the ARD Process. Participants will also receive a meal, beverage, childcare and a certificate for three credit hours.

Dyslexia Assessment Services now available at Clarity CGC
Clarity CGC is providing Dyslexia Assessment Services to families who suspect their child may have dyslexia. Testing will include the following areas: cognitive functioning, reading, writing and spelling. The assessment should meet the requirements of school districts for a diagnosis of dyslexia.
