free community presentation: modern conversations around death and dying
Free community presentation is scheduled for Friday, August 15 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

   

Talking to Kids Martha Atkins, PhD, LPC-S, and chief executive officer of Atkinsosity, LLC, will be the featured speaker for the Clarity CGC monthly community event on Friday, August 15. The topic of her presentation is "Modern Conversations Around Death and Dying."

In addition to the primary topic discussion on death and dying during this 2-hour presentation, Dr. Atkins will also address working with adults and children when someone they love is dying. Attendees of this session will be able to:
  • Gain an understanding of historic vs. current perspectives on death and dying
  • Conceptualize therapists' worldview in relation to death and dying, and its impact on the therapeutic relationship
  • Better understand the impact of death and the grieving process on spirituality and personal growth
The program qualifies for 2 hours of CEU credit (LPC, LMSW, LMFT, NAADAC and PhD). Space is limited so please RSVP.

september 13: registration now open for a unique children's mental health event

One in Five Minds to partner with TEDxSanAntonio for Mental Health Salon   

    


Clarity CGC, through our advocacy campaign, One in Five Minds, is collaborating with TEDxSanAntonio to offer a unique mental health event. If you're familiar with the popular TEDx format, this will be a similar experience. Advocates, parents and professionals will laugh, cry and be challenged and encouraged to take action!

It's called the TEDxSanAntonio Salon on Children's Mental Health - Where are the Casseroles? It will be a half day of thought-provoking presentations on mental health held at Morgan's Wonderland. TEDxSanAntonio, One in Five Minds, and other local organizations will present this unique event.

  • Experience what it's like for a child to suffer from mental illness
  • Hear parent testimonies first-hand
  • Discover new scientific insight, and
  • Take part in innovative activities to reduce stigma

Free community event & conversation on teen and young adult mental health    

    

Teen Depression Please plan to attend this community conversation on teen and young adult mental health. It's sponsored by Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Oblate School of Theology, Speak Your Mind Texas.org, the Health Collaborative and One in Five Minds.

august 6 & 7: parenting class sessions - two days a week            

We offer English or Spanish parenting classes on Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings      

 

Classes in English are held Wednesday evenings, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m., at our Main Campus on Tom Slick Drive, and Thursday mornings, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m., at our Outpatient Campus on Babcock Road. 

 

Classes in Spanish are held Wednesday evenings, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., at the Main Campus and Thursday mornings, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Outpatient Campus. 

Please note: The July and August schedule offers a class on two different days per week.   

  • Wednesday, August 6 & Thursday, August 7 - Nurturing Children's Self-Esteem 
  • Wednesday, August 13 & Thursday, August 14 - Raising 21st Century Kids
