free community presentation: wake up the smart in your child by strengthening cognitive skills
| Free community presentation is scheduled for Friday, July 19 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
 Liz Breitman, a Cognitive Trainer at Learning Rx of Northwest San Antonio, will be the featured speaker for the Clarity CGC community monthly event on Friday, July 19. The topic of her presentation will be "Wake up the Smart in Your Child by Strengthening Cognitive Skills."
During this 2-hour presentation, Ms. Breitman will focus on cognitive skills, their importance in learning and life, and how to improve them in any child or adult. Come ready to train your brain with hands-on activities. Her presentation will go into detail about how cognitive skills: - Make up IQ and equip the brain to efficiently handle day-to-day tasks.
- Must function well for anyone to efficiently and easily read, think, prioritize, understand, plan, remember and solve problems.
- Are essential for learning.

june 24 & 25: first children's summit a success

 A crowd of over 200 mental health professionals, child protective workers, therapists, social workers, educators, attorneys and law enforcement officers participated in the first Children's Summit on June 24 and 25.
Clarity Child Guidance Center and ChildSafe joined together to present this 2-day conference on child abuse and children's mental health.
Over the two days, attendees had the opportunity to attend over 30 sessions, and hear from compelling keynote speakers Dennis D. Embry, Ph.D, and Melissa Anderson, JD. Their presentations were thought-provoking, challenging and sobering. The luncheon speakers were also riveting, with acclaimed authors Pete Earley (Crazy: A Father's Search Through America's Mental Health Madness) and William P. Young (The Shack), sharing their stories.

july: teen group forming
| San Antonio teens talking about real issues
Clarity CGC has a group just for San Antonio teens (ages 14-17). The group sessions provide a confidential place for teens to discuss relationship issues with other teens. Participants will have the opportunity to grow in their ability to establish and maintain healthy meaningful relationships. They will learn about themselves and their relationships through peer interaction.

july 11: new parenting class sessions

Register to attend our English or Spanish parenting classes, on Thursday mornings or evenings
The summer session of parenting classes has begun at Clarity CGC. Classes in English will be held 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday mornings at our Outpatient Campus on Babcock, and 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday evenings at the Main Campus on Tom Slick Drive.
Classes in Spanish will be held Thursday mornings 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Outpatient Campus, and 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday evenings at the Main Campus. Please note there will not be a class on Thursday, July 4, due to the Independence Day holiday.
- July 11 - Communication Within the Family
- July 18 - Establishing Authority as a Parent and Using Effective Discipline Techniques
- July 25 - Dealing with Anger and Conflict in the Family
- August 1 - Nurturing Children's Self-Esteem
- August 8 - Raising 21st Century Kids
