 TRAVEL NEWS HEADLINES

British Airways will relaunch direct flights between London and Kuala Lumpur on 27  May 2015 after a twelve year break. The daily service will depart from London Heathrow's award winning Terminal 5 and will be operated by a four-cabin Boeing 777-200ER, featuring 12 seats in First class, 48 seats in Club World, 32 in World Traveller Plus and 127 in World Traveller.

The BA033 will depart Terminal 5 daily at 20.15, arriving into Kuala Lumpur 12 hours 45 minutes later at 16.00 local time. The returning BA034 will leave Kuala Lumpur at 23.05 local time and arrive back into Heathrow's Terminal 5 at 05.25 the next morning.

The route is especially convenient for business customers and those connecting from other flights, particularly from Europe. As well as offering a wealth of things to do for those on holiday, the Malaysian capital is an excellent gateway to the rest of South East Asia.
AIR NEW ZEALAND TO FLY DIRECT TO THE HEART OF TEXAS

From December this year, Air New Zealand will start flying to Houston Texas, providing greater connectivity for Australians to America's south.

Air New Zealand will fly its completely refitted Boeing 777-200 aircraft between Auckland and Houston up to five times a week opening up the state of Texas as well as popular nearby tourist states such as Louisiana and Florida.

Air New Zealand will soon be offering direct services to five popular North American destinations - Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Hawaii and Houston.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon says the airline is hugely excited to be adding Houston to its list of international destinations, particularly as the move comes hard on the heels of the airline's recent announcement that it will also begin flying to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December.

AIR NEW ZEALAND TO FLY TO BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA

Air New  Zealand's service to Buenos Aires will operate three times per week on the route, year round with a Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

Air New Zealand will enter into a code share agreement with Aerolíneas Argentinas, subject to obtaining regulatory approvals, which will see Aerolíneas Argentinas' code return to the South Pacific market on the new route and on key connecting Trans-Tasman services, and Air New Zealand will code share on Aerolíneas Argentinas' services to Brazil.

Flights will commence 1
December 2015, with tickets on sale now (pending regulatory approval).

THREE OF THE BEST

Jackie Adams, our Administration Manager has recently travelled to Nepal with her husband and 2 daughters on a 14 Day World Expeditions Tour to Goyko and Renjo-La

AIRLINE - TARA AIR

We took Tara Air from Kathmandu to Lukla. When you arrive at the domestic terminal in Kathmandu it's a bit like a shed, with crowds of tourists, locals, staff and supplies for the mountains. As we waited for our flight; all the scenic flights were announced as "cancelled" due to poor visibility" and we did not know what to think. Suddenly our flight is called and we are rapidly ushered to a very small aircraft, maximum of 14 passengers and the engines start and then stop "Lukla is closed" they announced, so off we get, back on the bus to the terminal, no wait, the bus turns around "Lukla is open" and we are on our way. They offer you cotton wool and sweets as the vibrations can be quite loud. The flight is an amazing 25 minutes of the most scenic countryside I have ever seen and then there's the "landing" - there is much excitement, nerves and anticipation. The pilot lands without a hitch,  off loads us and sets off again to collect more trekkers and supplies from the capital.

HOTEL - RADISSON KATHMANDU

Before and after the trek we stayed at the Radisson Kathmandu. There are 2 sides to the hotel, the original and the newer part and they are across the road from each other.

Having been trekking for 14 days in quite basic conditions, the hotel was clean, comfortable, air-conditioned and has Wi-Fi. The staff were amazingly friendly and they do have one manager who specifically looks after World Expeditions clients. It's in a great location and is a short walk to Thamel Markets where all the shopping is done. There are many choices of places to eat. My daughters were craving a burger after 14 days of vegetables and they could get one from one of the restaurants.

DESTINATION - NEPAL

We were fortunate enough to have done an amazing 14 day trek before the earthquake. We went on a private tour as we had children aged 12 and 16. We were looked after by 2 guides and 11 other staff including, Sherpa's, porters and cooks, all local Nepalese. We stayed in tents the majority of the time and a tea house on a few occasions. They slowly acclimatise you to the altitude, climbing between 200 and 600 metres per day. All meals are included and cooked on site by the cooks, mostly vegetarian.

The scenery is the most spectacular I have ever seen and every day brings something different; Yaks crossing high suspending bridges, waking up to 30 cm of fresh snow in a tent, Porters carrying the most amazing loads on their backs and of course Everest!

As I mentioned we were lucky to have left Nepal 1 week before the earthquake. It is a spectacular country with the most beautiful, peaceful people and I just hope that people will visit as soon as things get back to some form of normality because the country has so much to offer.
