Invite a friend to meet up at
Community Forklift aims to lift up local communities. In addition to providing resources and materials, we want to be a gathering spot! So, on the first Friday of each month, we stay open late to host live bands, artists, food trucks, plus a pop-up bar with craft beer and wine, thanks to Riverdale's Town Center Market. It's a kid- and adult-friendly event, so all ages (and friendly, leashed pets) are welcome.
The next party is July 1st!
When: 6 PM - 8 PM, Friday July 1st
Where: Community Forklift, 4671 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston, MD 20781 (Just 5 minutes outside NE DC, near Hyattsville)
Cost: Free and open to the public (but you may want to bring cash for food, beverage, & art purchases)
A great way to kick off your holiday weekend
On July 1st, the featured band will be The Vico Cycle, a group of DC area musicians who blend rock, funk, soul, blues, and hip-hop into a lively fusion of raw sound. Expect the unexpected...
As for food, KaftaMania is coming back to the 'Lift and they're bringing their amazing Mediterranean & Lebanese food! It's fresh, filling, and perfect for a warm summer evening. Vegetarian and carnivore options will be available.
We have four amazing local artists exhibiting too (visit our blog for a preview of their work).

Now Hiring Store Manager
Many of you know Doug, the tall and friendly guy who has been here for almost a decade. Well, he's moving away! We're excited that he has some great new opportunities for his family, but we're so sad to say goodbye.
Running Community Forklift's reuse center requires an unusual skill set. Do you know someone who is great with people, experienced in retail management, and into building materials or old houses? Would they be excited about turning the construction waste stream into a resource stream for local communities?

Community Forklift's
Vintage Toilets

A glamorous 1950's bathroom (it's never been remuddled).
|
Don't toilets go a little underappreciated? We use them everyday, and it's a huge inconvenience if they break. Yet, we would never welcome guests into our home by saying "Yes, we have a 1958 Picasso in the front hall and a 1957 American Standard in the bathroom, feel free to take a look." While perhaps not as impressive as a Picasso, the vintage toilets available at Community Forklift are still quite the works of art. When redoing your bathroom, it would definitely be sensible to have it match the rest of the house. In fact, perhaps all of the furniture should be made of porcelain!! Chairs, beds, the whole nine yards! |

A tacky toilet
|
Okay, maybe you shouldn't go that far, but wouldn't it look tacky to have a brand-new, ultra modern toilet clashing with the rest of your charming mid-century home? Whether you need surf green, buttercream, or Mamie Eisenhower pink, we have quality bathroom fixtures for far less than you would find through most architectural salvage suppliers online. We currently have 15 vintage toilets, and much more, listed in our Ebay store. If you can't find what you're looking for there, we encourage you to come by our warehouse, and talk to our helpful staff members.
