New Leadership in Western Land Departments
Arizona - Vanessa Hickman was named the new Land Commissioner for the Arizona State Land Department. Ms. Hickman has served the ASLD as Deputy Commissioner since 2009. Previously, she was the Deputy General Counselor to the Governor, and worked in private practice for the law firms of Withey Morris; Wilenchik & Bartness; and Wilcox & Wilcox. View press release.
California - Jennifer Lucchesi has replaced Curtis Fossum as Executive Director of the California State Lands Commission
Oregon - Mary Abrams was appointed as Director of Oregon's Department of State Lands on October 9, 2012. Ms. Abram's career with the State of Oregon includes five years in the Department of Environmental Quality. She has also held positions as a watershed manager, the Endangered Species Act coordinator for the City of Portland, a research faculty member at the Oregon Graduate Institute, and most recently as a Peace Corps Director in Africa from 2006-2012.
