Sound, visionary stewardship

Welcome

It has been an adventure filled summer! We shared in our July newsletter about our awesome trip to Alaska (below picture from our hike to Lost Lake in AK) but we've done some other cool things including our trying yak at a Tibetan restaurant (it did not taste like chicken but was good).

Lost Lake hike

We have taken advantage of summer fun to connect with clients in lots of ways. We've spent the day at the beach on the Cape and kayaking a lake in New Hampshire. We've been to the horse races at Saratoga Springs, NY and we've taken in a Cape Cod Baseball game. Plus we've opened the doors at our new office a few times for cookouts and cocktail parties for the business community.

We'd love to hear what you have done this summer. Check anything off or add anything to your "bucket list"? Fall is a great time to focus on getting your financial affairs in order. Can we help you move forward? If so, drop us a line.

Cheers,

Take care with inherited IRA's

It is safe to say that you or someone you know may inherit an IRA at some point in their life. Did you know that inherited IRAs are no longer safe from creditors?

In June, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled inherited IRAs are not protected under federal bankruptcy rules. The high court said the bankruptcy code is a balance between creditors and debtor's "essential needs." The Supreme Court has now determined an inherited IRA is not "essential." In real simple terms, if you are holding an IRA that you inherited, creditors may be able to pounce on that account.
