Ohio Unveils New Crisis Text Line Tool to Connect Ohioans Receive Help Quickly

Ohio is making it easier for individuals who are experiencing a stressful situation to find immediate help, 24/7, with the launch of a free, confidential, statewide Crisis Text Line. Starting today, any Ohio resident who needs help coping with a crisis can now text the keyword "4hope" to 741741 to be connected to a crisis counselor. Trained crisis counselors are on stand-by to provide a personal response and information on a range of issues including: suicidal thoughts, bullying, depression, self-harm, and more. The specialist helps the user stay safe and healthy with effective, secure support. The keyword "4hope" was developed by the Stark County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery (StarkMHAR) board, which piloted a crisis text line for youth and young adults as part of the Strong Families, Safe Communities funding initiative supported by OhioMHAS and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
Community Volunteer Force

The Community Volunteer Force is comprised of people and organizations who agree to receive periodic information about volunteer opportunities in Butler County. They are individuals, families, students, leaders of youth groups, representatives of small businesses and large corporations, churches, schools, clubs and organizations. Community Volunteer Force members are generally "invisible" since we do not have membership cards, decals, T shirts or caps...  However, we are always pleased when a volunteer tells an agency they are part of CVF. Here is the list of current volunteer opportunities. Fore more information on Community Volunteer Force contact  Dan Schlosser at volunteerfinder@yahoo.com

Peer Partner volunteers:
Butler County Community Wraparound (through Family and Children First Council) is adding additional support to our process in the form of Peer Partners. These individuals will be partnering with the youth on Wraparound teams to help empower them to ensure their voice is being heard at meetings, as well as help them navigate through the many systems of care. We are currently looking for young adults (over the age of 18) with lived experience (such as involvement with juvenile justice, mental health, children services, substance abuse, developmental disabilities or special education) to partner as volunteers (stipend for attending meetings and mileage reimbursement will be included).
