   New Look - Same Great Content!
The Pause program, an initiative of the Family and Children First Council has acquired the creation and distribution of the Family Connections E-Newsletter as part of our commitment to resource families in Butler County.  While Pause specific information has been added, you will still find all the great things you have come to love about this monthly publication.  We hope you find great opportunities to connect with your family and with other families in the community! All events are FREE unless noted otherwise!



   Who are we? 
Pause is committed to assisting families of children with physical, mental, developmental, medical, behavioral or learning challenges, access to a broad range of support options by maximizing the use of community resources and family support networks. On the current menu of options, Pause provides:  respite, free family fun events, caregiver networking/resourcing and community service events to help families with tangible needs.  For more information visit our website at www.bcesc.org/pause.aspx.

Let us care for your child while you get a break! Your child will be paired with a buddy whose main job is to spend quality time having fun and caring for them. We will have snacks, do craft projects, play games and more! This event is for all children with special needs and their siblings. We ensure that every buddy is equipped with the knowledge and tools to procide the best care possible for your child. Buddies either have extensive experience working with special needs children or attend an orientation specially designed for volunteer caregivers.

CURRENT EVENTS 
All Month Long: 
Fun on the farm! Join Barn-n-Bunk this fall for their Fall Festival Weekends. Festival includes games, face painting, wax hands, duck races, mining company, fall favorite foods and pumpkin picking. Each weekend offers new entertainment and activities options. This family event offers handicap accessibility, and is located at 3677 Wayne-Madison Road. They are open on Saturdays from 12-6 pm and Sundays from 11 am-5 pm. Don't miss out on this festive fun! 


October 1-30: Neiderman Family Farm
Enjoy the beauty and colors of fall in Ohio at the Niederman Family Farm Fall Festival. At this popular fall event you can navigate a 14 acre corn maze, take a hayride and pick the perfect pumpkin. Family photo opportunities can be found around the farm. Enjoy fall treats such as kettle-corn, caramel apples or the famous Niederman cinnamon-sugar donuts. In the evening, gather around a bonfire and cozy up with family and friends for stories and s'mores.Children 2 and under are free but regular admission is 10$. This event is located on 4972 LeSourdesville-West Chester Rd. We hope to see you there! 



October 7-9: Operation Pumpkin!
A local favorite! Operation Pumpkin began as a safe way for children to celebrate Halloween. Local businesses generously donated toys ranging from bicycles to televisions. The event lasted from the early 50's into the early 70's. Today's Hamilton Operation Pumpkin serves as a living legacy of Jim Grimm and as a community event for all ages where families can enjoy spending time together in a safe environment. Children enjoy looking at creative pumpkins, eating from tons of local venders, face painting and more! Admission is free!



You will not want to miss the seasonal fun for the whole family! At Jack-o'Lantern Junction you can walk through a trick-or-treat maze and see friendly ghosts, skeletons, and more! Also this is the only place in the area with an indoor pumpkin patch (Rain? No Worries!) and your child gets to go home with a FREE mini pumpkin! Train rides are also decked out in festive decor so come on! Enjoy the festivity at Enter-Trainment Junction any day of the week! 


September 30-October 5th: Hamilton's 225th Anniversary
Join in on the FREE family fun with unique celebrations each day as we celebrate Hamilton's 225th Anniversary! This event is located at 315 High Street! 


October 1-October 2: Apple Butter Festival
Located at Pioneer Farm Museum at Hueston Woods State Park this festival costs 4$ per person to get in, but it is well worth it! This is a fall favorite! You can see how homemade apple butter is made and also visit with craft vendors, listen to live music and more! 



October 8-October 9: Ruffles and Rust Expo
"A traveling boutique show with vintage flair!"
Ruffles and Rust is coming to the Butler County Fairgrounds this October. Shop 'til you drop with handcrafted items, home decor, boutique fashion and more. Adult admission is 5$ but children 12 and under are FREE! 


Running, walking, a pancake breakfast and a craft show! This fun fall 5K is great for the whole family. Feel free to dress in costume, and get ready for a great time. This event starts at 8:30am and you will have to follow the link for registration information and details! This event is hosted at The Butler County Fairgrounds! 


October 19: Farm-R-Treat
All your fall favorites for eating and decorating will be available at Village Green in Fairfield. Kids can wear costumes to trick-or-treat throughout the market and play games! There will also be a selfie scavenger hunt throughout the park! Check out the vendors, pumpkin bowling, live music and more! 



October 22:  Treat Street
Costumed kids and families can spend the evening at this spooktacular event at Bridgewater Falls. Treat Street includes a petting zoo, DJ and Trunk-or-Treat. Candy and goodies can be found around the shopping center! This event has FREE admission and is handicap accessible! Join in the fun from 2-4 pm. 



Let the fall festivities begin! An evening full of fun is in your future. An epic Halloween dance, a massive pumpkin carving contest, a creepy car show and screening of Hocus Pocus await you. The big question is...what costume will you dress and impress in? This event is handicap accessible and is located at the Windamere.
