Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It's easier to be lazy when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Organizing Services. I hope they
make your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now & then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter!
DO
Keys + mesh bag
Do Groove
Find things fast using texture. My mechanic suggests filing a groove into the top part of a car key to more easily distinguish it -- by feel -- from others. A nubby mesh "essentials" bag (with Band-Aids, Advil, etc.) is blessedly easy to find in the dark depths of my purse. Save a little time & stress each day!
DON'T
Shopping bag

Don't Go Shopping
'Tis the season of garage sales, back-to-school sales, & other invitations to shop. Just as you might avoid putting Doritos in your pantry to save extra pounds, avoid "I might need that" situations to save storage space & money. When you do need to buy, consider this handy list of questions for good decision-making (from Eco-Officiency).
GET
3M Post-It Roll

Get Taped, Labeled, or Whatever
For me, here's one product that is worth buying: savvy client Susan got me into the Post-It Full Adhesive Roll, great for quick, temporary (or longer-term) repositionable notes or labels. It sticks longer than standard Post-Its, it's recyclable, & you can adjust the length. We've labeled a whole basement with it!
GIVE

Kiwanis Thrift Sale

Give for Kids
The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor -- & around the world -- host fantastic, well-organized thrift sales every week (I'm writing by the light of a lamp bought there) & make it easy to donate unneeded stuff. But the big winners are the thousands of kids and families who benefit from the proceeds.
ORGANIZE

Red phone
Michigan & Chicagoland: Get Organized Aug through Oct
I'm scheduling organizing sessions in the Detroit & Chicagoland areas into October. Call or email to find your best time. (My Michigan schedule is the most flexible. For Chicago, you can check this link for availability.)

We'll identify your trouble spots, break them down into manageable steps, work through them, & keep in touch to help you maintain your progress.
