June 2010 | Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier
It's easier to be lazy when you're organized. |
| Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services.
I hope they make your life a little easier.
Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now. That is, read this now and then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter! |

Do Keep Your Essentials Nearby
I love my "essentials" bag. Oh the hassles it solves! Stuff it with whatever on-the-go tools you deem essential: Band Aids, dental floss, nail clippers, aspirin, a safety pin, lip gloss, etc. It can be any small, easily-identifiable, zippered bag you have lying around, to be tossed into whichever larger bag you schlep that day. One less thing to think about.

DON'T

Don't Remember Everything It's impossible! Plus, your beautiful brain should be reserved for higher-level work. Any calendar, notebook, and address book are perfectly capable of keeping track of appointments, tasks, ideas, and contacts. Just BE CONSISTENT. Using 1 collection point for each type of info means you'll always know where to find it. |

Get Virus-Free Computing Karen Sanders of Sanders IT Consulting is a great resource for home and office computer repair/tutoring/tune-ups/etc. She showed me this great anti-virus software, Malware Bytes. The free version downloads quickly and goes a long way toward saving your computer from dangerous -- and embarrassing -- hijacking. |

Give to Great Radio (Get Free Stuff) If you're like me, you might be a little bit addicted to public radio. You can support it for free when you join and get a MemberCard (which Chicago's WBEZ and many others offer) since you save on 2-for-1 meals, etc. at millions of good places. You can even find nearby restaurants any time by texting your address. |
