Dear Friends of BBLA,

Together with my colleagues and our entire staff I would like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2016. In this year we will again present to you a host of quality programs for your enjoyment. We will continue working together with our friends from the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on maintaining our Bohemian National Hall, as always, in tip - top shape.

Our individual organizations are already preparing rich programs for their members and fans. We will further collaborate with the Czech Center and I also hope that we can successfully pivot our restaurant into a popular spot offering tasty Czech fair.

Thank you all for your tremendous support and many thanks to our dream team.

HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN! SUPPORT CZECHOSLOVAK MARIONETTE THEATRE'S NEW PRODUCTION

TWO DAYS LEFT!
There is still time to help Artistic Director Vit Horejs and his team from The Czechoslovak Marionette Theatre raise the needed funds for their new production.

Vit Horejs on the new marionette musical:
"My new play, 'The New World Symphony: Dvorak in America,' tells an important story of 19th century cultural interaction with classical, jazz and rock music accompaniment. The performance features antique marionettes and puppets composed from musical instrument parts, my company of actor/puppeteers, and musicians from renowned saxophonist James Brandon Lewis' trio. New music by Lewis is inspired by Dvorak. Please join our illustrious supporters to bring our play to the stage! Help reach our goal of raising the needed $5,000 toward the total budget of $97,600."

All donations to The Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. (CAMT is a program of GOH Productions, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.)

THANK YOU!

IN CELEBRATING PRINT 2015 COMPETITION, "LETTER TO THE INNOCENT II" RECEIVES BBLA CASH AWARD

We are delighted to announce and present the winning work of the 2015 Celebrating Print Competition. The Cash Award in the amount of $400, sponsored by BBLA, was awarded to Lenka Vilhelmova for her intaglio print Letter to the Innocent II (image above, right). Director Katerina Kyselica said: "Vilhelmova's work demonstrates the opportunities that printmaking as an art medium offers to contemporary artists. Masterfully applying a wide range of traditional techniques, from soft ground, to drypoint, mezzotint, etching and embossing, combined with offset printing, she created work on paper with physicality close to an object and urgency to discover it up close."

Lenka Vilhelmova is a Czech visual artist, printmaker and educator. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1982). Her prints, paintings, objects and artist's books have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Her art is represented in private and public collections, including the National Gallery in Prague and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. She has participated in many international workshops in printmaking and book arts, such as the International Print Triennial Krakow (2013) and "Continuity," Nebraska, U.S. (2010). Vilhelmova teaches printmaking at the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice. She is a member of the Hollar Association of Czech Graphic Artists.

CONGRATULATIONS!
