STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Each week, our teachers nominate a Student of the Week for each grade level who are consistently "Doing the Right Thing"

academically and behaviorally. Last week's BMS Students of the Week are:

BAND CAMP INFO NIGHT

All members of the 8th Grade Band or any student interested in joining the High School Band and their families are invited to our first annual Band Camp Info Night. Learn why Band Camp is one of the best reasons to play an instrument in High School and why it is so important to our success as a Marching Band. Also discussed will be some of the great opportunities that are available to BHS Band Students. This event will also feature a performance by the BHS Jazz Ensemble and snacks provided by the BBPA. The BHS Band Camp Info Night is Tuesday, April 14, at 7:30 pm in the High School band room. 

 

6TH GRADE HIRAM HOUSE CAMP

Please click here to print a copy Hiram House Program Participation Agreement Form, and return this form no later than May 1. The camp fee is $122. Checks can be made to Beachwood City Schools and dropped off at the middle school office. All camp fees must be paid in full by May 1. If your child plans on attending camp only during the day, please let the front office know as soon as possible.

 

6TH & 8TH GRADE SPRING TRIPS

If your child has medication needs and will be attending 6th grade camp or the 8th grade Washington, DC trip, please click here to complete the medical forms. All medication is due into the nurse's office two weeks before the trip.

 

8TH GRADE CAREER SHADOW DAY

The 8th Grade Career Shadow Day is on Friday, May 15. Click here to read Mr. Winston's email with forms and details, and please begin discussing with your child who and where they will shadow.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL PTO MEETING

The middle school PTO invites you to attend a free presentation by Dr. Ethan Schafer, clinical psychologist, on "navigating adolescence" on Thursday, April 16, at 7 pm, in the Beachwood Middle School library. Dr. Schafer will address a variety of issues parents may be experiencing with their adolescent and how to handle all the immediate information. He will cover a range of topics and is open to discussion.

 

GRADE 7 HONORS ENGLISH

During the 2015-2016 school year, Grade 7 Honors English will be offered at Beachwood Middle School. The necessary prerequisite for this class is a score of 95% or better on the Grade 5 Reading Iowa Assessment. Students will have an additional opportunity to take the Reading Iowa Assessment in November of 7th grade. If that score reaches 95% or better, the student will be transferred into the Honors English class for the second semester. Additional scheduling information will be shared with parents in May.

 

GRADE 8 CAREER SPECIALIST

On Friday, April 17, Ann Marn, Career Specialist, from OCIS will be meeting with all 8th grade students during Mr.Baker's class. At this time, all students will conduct a skills, interests, and value inventory to help assist with the selection of a shadow site. Mr. Winston will follow up with all 8th grade students to further explain the shadow process after this presentation.

BEACHWOOD AUTHOR FESTIVAL

Beachwood Schools and the Cuyahoga County Public Library have partnered to present the Beachwood Author Festival on Saturday, April 25, 12-5 pm, at BMS and the CCPL branch. Featured authors for all ages include Neal Schusterman, Angela Johnson, Marc Brown, Shelley Pearsall, Lindsay Ward, and John David Anderson. Click here for activities, times, and to learn more about the authors.


PTO GARAGE SALE NEWS
Donate, volunteer and shop at this year's Beachwood PTO Garage Sale, which will be held on Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1 (9 am - 4 pm), Saturday, May 2 (9 am - 3 pm), and Sunday, May 3 (10 am - 1 pm) at 23550 Commerce Park, Beachwood. Now is the time to clean your garage, closets and offices to put aside items such as new or lightly worn clothes and shoes, kitchenware, electronics, books, toys and furniture. Donation drop-off dates are Sundays, April 12, 19 and 26, from 10 am until 2 pm. All donations benefit our schools and are 100-percent tax deductible. PTO needs volunteers - please click here to sign up.
