In response to the article published in Issue #1219, we have received the following:

This is a great topic. Thank you so much for covering it. I've been sober in SA for over 5 months now, and I was always scared of going to a meeting. I imagined I would meet all my closest friends there, which, in reality, is totally insane (though now I wish some of my closest friends would join). The feeling of warmth was so powerful, I was almost drunk from it. It was a total cultural shock to be cared for in such a deep way. Everyone offered assistance but no one pried or tried shoving something down my throat. Regarding the twelve steps, you don't start them until you're ready.

Thank you so much for giving me the scariest advice of my lifetime almost six months ago that I need live meetings.

(By the way Daily Dose of Dov definitely deserves credit for me joining the live meetings.)

Emunah is Everything

Imagine you won 10 million dollars in the Lotto. The joy you would feel would completely over-shadow all your stresses and desires, and even if you had an unattractive wife, she would look so beautiful to you as you danced around the room, hugging her and the kids, and rejoicing in your good fortune.

But what really changed? You still have the same desires. Same wife. Same hardships.

But suddenly you see so much hope and light, so much promise and possibility, right?

So you see, it's all a matter of perspective.

Watch this video. Isn't it worth more than 10 million dollars to be from this great people?

As a matter of fact, every mitzva we do is worth more than 10 million dollars, if we have the right Emunah.

You see, all we are missing is Emunah. Not "stuff". Not pleasure. Not money.

We simply need more Emunah and then we have everything!!

So daven for Emunah, my dear friends.

Not for a better life. But for Emunah.

That's all we need.

If we have Emunah, each mitzva, each prayer, each word of Torah - and we can rejoice as if we just won millions!

Understanding pornography

There are massive efforts underway to educate the public on the affects of pornography on people who use it often.

Social Consequences:

Morality in Media (http://pornharmsresearch.com) has summed up some of the recent research on the topic:

Lawyers surveyed claimed that "an excessive interest in internet pornography" was a significant factor in 56% of their new divorce cases (American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers)
More than 50% of those engaged in "sexual Internet interactions" had lost interest in sexual intercourse; a third of their partners had lost interest as well
Addiction to pornography has resulted in 40% of addicts losing their spouse, 50% suffering considerable financial loss, and 33% losing their jobs
