Summer is the perfect time to learn something new!
Why not try your hand at some cotton spinning!
New to spinning? It's just as easy to learn to spin cotton as it is any other fiber. It just takes a few tricks and practice. (See our Cotton Spinning Tips below).
I love spinning for its own sake and sometimes never consider what I'm going to do with my handspun. Yet, let's get practical! Handspun cotton, when spun and plied correctly (lots of twist as well as overplying) can be knit, woven, crocheted into just about anything you use cotton yarn for. Cotton loves to be spun fine and plied to a 10/2 lace-weight yarn; ideal for the light and airy projects.
Below you'll find a list of my quick-to-access hints and tips for successful cotton spinning, cotton spinning resources and lots of Youtube videos of me showing you how to prepare, spin, ply and finish your cotton yarns.
