ANNUAL POINT IN TIME COUNTS ARE IN!!!
Virtually Unchanged from 2014

After a month's postponement due to extreme weather in January, the Regional Network on Homelessness counted 362 people as homeless on February 25, 2015 on the Cape and Islands. This number is a slight decrease from the 379 homeless individuals and families counted in January 2014. The most significant change from last year's count was the drop in the number of unsheltered individuals (74 in 2014 and 38 in 2015). This decrease is not surprising given the harsh winter and doesn't necessarily reflect an overall drop in homeless individuals in our region.

Point in Time (PIT) counts cover all people experiencing homelessness in emergency shelters, transitional housing, on the street, in cars, abandoned buildings, and in other places not meant for human habitation. Counts are conducted annually in every community, and are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The PIT does not count households living in motels nor those that are doubled-up and living wiht family and friends.

For the second year in a row, the PIT count was conducted at the same time as the State's unaccompanied homeless youth survey. Official results from this survey will not be available until this fall. Read more....

BARNSTABLE COUNTY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WEB PORTAL

Barnstable County Behavioral Health Web Portal

The Barnstable County Behavioral Health web portal  is a fantastic tool for our community providing critical information, communication, and advocacy tools with a single point of entry.  One of the key features of the new portal is a comprehensive Service Directory that enables consumers to easily locate the local programs and services they need most.

If your organization isn't listed in the Behavioral Health Service Directory yet, it's easy to include your agency's information. Likewise, if your organization is already included but you would like to tweak or update the information currently listed, that's very straightforward too.

To learn more about editing or adding your organization to the Behavioral Health Service Directory, please check out this quick online tutorial or contact Jessica McHugh at 508/375-6630 or jmchugh@barnstablecounty.org to set up a group tutorial or for questions.
