Typhoon Haiyan Relief Efforts in The Philippines

Aidmatrix and our partners responded to Typhoon Haiyan that impacted more than 5 million people in The Philippines. Aidmatrix worked with our international relief organizations and our partner at UPS to arrange transportation services to the area. Our SCM4Good™ platform helped those partners see and mobilize their inventories around the world to pre-position supplies and respond with speed. We also leveraged our SCM4Giving™ platform for Disaster Response to get the needs of the NGOs displayed and communicated to donors around the world, including through Microsoft's Disaster Response blog posts. We ran a fundraising campaign to assist our partners with financial donations so that aid could be procured locally or in the region, thus greatly speeding the time to delivery, reducing transportation costs and boosting the local economy.  American Eagle Outfitters contributed $50,000 in direct financial support to Aidmatrix to go towards the procurement of 100,000 meals, 200 aid packages of medical supplies, 12,500 cases of cleaning supplies, and 185 packages of building materials to support reconstruction.

Congratulations to San Antonio Food Bank and the Kansas Food Bank. They are our newest (and 49th and 50th) Feeding America member Food Banks to implement the AgencyExpress® Online Ordering system. We look forward to much good news from them as they introduce and roll out online ordering to their network of over 500 nonprofit agencies in 16 and 85 counties, respectively. Since our inception, hunger relief has been a core initiative of Aidmatrix in partnership with Feeding America and its 200+ food bank members. AgencyExpress is a hunger relief solution by Aidmatrix, associated with Feeding America, that enables local agencies to view and order food from their food banks with an online shopping cart. The result: more humanitarian relief gets delivered more quickly to those in need.

SafeNight App Program Highlighted at D.C. Partnership for Freedom Finalists' Workshop

Aidmatrix was recently honored to be one of 12 finalists invited to attend the Partnership for Freedom workshop in Washington, D.C. This competition is designed to develop "Modern Solutions to Modern Day Slavery" and Aidmatrix's SafeNight mobile app, in participation with Caravan Studios (a division of TechSoup Global), was selected as a finalist. In an article on Forbes.com titled 'Fighting The Cruelty Of Human Trafficking, Social Entrepreneurs Craft New Models For Helping Victims,' SafeNight is mentioned as one of the "efforts to combat trafficking and help its victims." The SafeNight program is a mobile app that empowers sheltering relief agencies to get same-day, deeply-discounted hotel rooms to cover overflow capacity so no one need be turned away. Women's shelters, homeless shelters, trafficking shelters, and disaster shelters can all leverage this program.
