Celebrating the Reformation!

During October, students learned about the Reformation and prepared for a big celebration on October 31. It was a full, fun day! Devotions, led by Pastor Wood, were followed by student presentations, then lots of games related to the Reformation. We thank God for the brave men and women who sacrificed to give us the Bible in our own language and hope students will be shaped by their stories for years to come.

Fallfest 2014

At the recent Wears Valley Fallfest, students sold "infinity" scarves, soap, and walking sticks that they had made by hand.

Chef Kam's "steak on a stick," corn on the cob and fresh-squeezed lemonade sold out both days!

All of this offered our students a wealth of practical learning opportunities-making a product, marketing it, providing customer service, and doing it all with a smile. We hope to see you there next year!

As a child I never would have guessed that Halloween would eclipse Thanksgiving as a popular holiday for Americans. According to several studies I have read the last few years, Halloween is now second only to Christmas. Obviously, those of us at the Ranch are not typical of the current climate in our country. October 31 is when we celebrate the Reformation. And that happy celebration is overshadowed by Thanksgiving! We are amazed by God's grace and careful to give Him thanks for His amazing faithfulness.

We are grateful to report that we are seeing wonderful answers to prayer. Several of the new students who have recently come to live at the Ranch have already yielded their lives to Christ. It is thrilling to see the joy and peace which they have found in Him. Please continue to pray for all our students to come to know Jesus in a personal way.

I don't want to beg, but if you are able to help us financially at this season, please do so. Whether the stock market is up or down on the day that you read this, I assure you the cost of caring for these children is inching upward. Groceries and insurance are expensive necessities. Please consider how the Lord has blessed you and join me in giving thanks to God with a generous year end gift. Many of the folks who supported us in earlier years have graduated to heaven. Others have reached a stage of declining health and fixed incomes. We need as much help as possible from all of you who are able. For those of you who have already been part of the miracle, thank you! We are trusting the Lord to richly reward your faithfulness.

Dixie and Diamond

My favorite subject is Math. Miss Dixie makes it fun... well, we both make it fun." - Diamond

What do a semi-retired homemaker from the Midwest and a young teenage girl from inner city Atlanta have in common? Jesus! This month, Diamond prayed to receive Christ. Though still a little shy, she smiled brightly as she told us about her coming to faith at a youth gathering this past week. We thank God that the One who called zealots and Pharisees, fishermen and doctors, is still calling His children today.

Please join us in giving thanks for what God is doing, and pray for Diamond and Dixie, as well as the other students and staff as together they grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord.
