What Do These Two Have In Common?

"My favorite subject is Math. Miss Dixie makes it fun... well, we both make it fun."

- Diamond

Diamond is a vibrant 14 year old young lady from inner city Atlanta. Her younger brother, Jon Corey, enrolled at the Ranch last year. As Diamond heard and saw what was happening in Jon Corey's life at the Ranch, she began to want the same opportunity for herself. On September 20, Diamond became one of six new students admitted this fall. When asked what she likes most she flashed her beautiful smile and replied, "Activities. I love the activities at the Ranch-recreation, horses."

Living in Elizabeth, Indiana, Dixie and her husband Denny first heard about the Ranch as they listened to Abiding in Christ on FamilyTalk XM radio. As an over-the-road trucker, Denny became a regular listener around 2005, and he enthusiastically shared what he was learning with Dixie. When they visited the Ranch for the first time three years ago, they began praying about whether they could do more than just listen. This summer, one year after selling their house in rural Indiana, Dixie and Denny moved to Sevierville, hoping to be part of the ministry to children at the Ranch. In September, Dixie became Diamond's tutor, teaching her Math, Science, History, and English.

What do a semi-retired homemaker from the Midwest and a young teenage girl from inner city Atlanta have in common? Jesus! This week, Diamond prayed to receive Christ. Though still a little shy, she smiled brightly as she told us about her coming to faith at a youth gathering this past week. We thank God that the One who called zealots and Pharisees, fishermen and doctors, is still calling His children today. Please join us in giving thanks for what God is doing, and pray for Diamond and Dixie, as well as the other students and staff as together they grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord.
