Back to School

Children are always learning. Therefore,   we seek to provide an environment where everything they learn is true, where the truth is made believable, and where character development is our most important measure of success.                                        -Saint Andrew's School Philosophy

At St. Andrew's School, we provide much more than just the traditional academic disciplines. Children are learning practical life skills-cooking, gardening, canning, knitting and sewing, just to name a few.

We thank God for Janet Shave, who recently became the Administrative Assistant who handles all the details. Janet's years as a homeschool mom have marvelously equipped her for this new role. Thanks to God for Pat Brown, Jean Baker, and Lissy McClanahan who are teaching this fall as well. We feel richly blessed to have them all!

A New Bridge By the Garden

A picture is worth a thousand words, and a bridge provides a beautiful metaphor.  When an uncrossable chasm of sin separated us from God, He voluntarily sent His Son to bridge the gap.  Jesus is much more than a bridge, but we are grateful that this bridge provides an object lesson that will help us illustrate the gospel for years to come.

Lane Construction is a world-class road construction firm. Completing mountainside bridges on the Foothills Parkway between Townsend and Wears Valley is one of their signature projects. Lane generously took time out from their high profile projects to help the Ranch.  Thanks to them, in the place of two completely rusted out drain pipes now stands a beautiful bridge!  The sides look like the cut stone that you'd find on bridges in the National Park; they are actually formed concrete, poured using the same laser-cut forms that Lane is using to finish the Foothills Parkway.

Heartfelt thanks to Lane Construction, Blalock Ready Mix, and the many people who made this project happen.  God bless you!

ROI is shorthand for Return on Investment. Business strategists are focused on ROI, whether long term or short term. Monique Daily is an example of a fabulous ROI, short term and long. Monique came to Wears Valley Ranch when she was 14 years old. She was carrying tremendous pain and insecurity but had enormous potential and soon began to respond to this loving environment with hard work and hope.

After graduating from St. Andrew's School at the Ranch, Monique enrolled at Union University where she majored in psychology. Graduating this spring, she was led by the Lord to return to the Ranch and help us offer the same opportunity to other children that God gave her in this place. Watching her tutoring our current students is thrilling. She knows where they are coming from. She has a credibility that is undeniable. And she knows the One Who changes lives personally!

When you invest in the children at Wears Valley Ranch, you are investing in eternity. Not all of the children do as well as Monique, but she is a testimony to God's faithfulness. Please help us as we head into the last quarter of this year to finish well. Prayerfully consider what God would have you do, and then obey His leading with gladness.

Welcoming New Students
and Prayerfully Waiting for Houseparents

New puppies are delightful. We are even more excited about our new students.  Many of you have prayed for the Lord to send the right students and God has answered beautifully.  This Fall we welcome six new students and several other applicants need a place.  Please pray with us that these new students will adjust well and that they will follow Jesus.

Please pray that we will be successful in getting permission for our newly hired houseparents from Canada to come and work in this country.  Pastor Wood was only half joking when he suggested that they may need to fly to Mexico and hike North in order to be welcomed by our government.  We are prayerfully seeking another houseparent couple as well.  If you know a couple who love the Lord and have a calling to work with children, please introduce us!
