Joe Schimmel has done a stellar job of encapsulating nearly every problem created by Paramount's $160 million dollar film. The movie, released yesterday (3/28), paints Noah as a blood thirsty, murderous sort who would have killed the entire population of the planet himself if need be (including his own granddaughters!) instead of a "preacher of righteousness" (II Peter 2:5) who set about to warn anyone who he could of the impending destruction that was soon to come upon the earth.
As I stated in the March 22nd Take A Stand! Email Update and on Understanding the Times Radio back on March 1, Aronofsky, a rabid environmentalist, twists the biblical story into something completely unrecognizable claiming that "The Creator" ("God" is never mentioned in the movie) sought to destroy the earth because of mankind's misuse of the planet, including the eating of meat!My heart breaks this morning just thinking about how many attending the film - and giving their money to the god of Hollywood - will walk out of theaters believing the film's treatment of Noah and the flood and not bothering to see what the Bible actually has to say.
Let me also mention that the Christian leaders and bloggers who saw the film in special screenings and then set about promoting it should be ashamed and discredited for their lack of discernment and for helping Paramount to extract money from the pockets of unsuspecting folks in the Christian community.
Again, please take a moment and watch the quality video Joe, Tony and the Good Fight Ministries crew have done. Is is powerful and packed with facts that too few in the Church are willing to repeat. (One note, I rate the Good Fight video "PG" and do so only because of statements made by Aronofsky and the vulgar commentator, Bill Maher. Even with Good Fight's tasteful editing it may offend some.)
Note: I am speaking again at the home church of Good Fight Ministries (where Joe Schimmel is Pastor) on Sunday morning, May 4th. I hope to see our friends in Southern California at Blessed Hope Chapel in Simi Valley.
