New Parent Tours
The last of our new parent tours ended last week. First of all I want to thank Emily Wong and Jennifer McDowell for organizing the tours again this year.  They did a fabulous job organizing printed materials for new parents, training parent docents, and scheduling building tours.  The total numbers of parents interested in assignment at Thornton Creek continues to amaze me.  I'm certain the interest in our program remains high because of the outstanding staff at Thornton Creek. It was a pleasure to meet with parents again this year to be reminded what an valuable resource Thornton Creek is in Seattle Public Schools.

SPS Budget
Parents, staff and I will be working on next year's District budget during March. I will write an update on key information for the newsletter each week. With the District budget just released, the most notable information is our addition of a fourth Kindergarten and First grade, as well as the addition of a special education pre-K program. Stay tuned for more detail.

Safety Issue, Parents and friends of Thornton Creek
by Jennifer Evans  - jevans@seattleschools.org

Please be sure to close and latch all gates as you enter or leave school property each time you visit.  As you can imagine, with so many people coming and going all the time we could employ at least 3 full time gate keepers! A small amount of help will go a long way in keeping your school staff sane and comfort to any parent with a child that might wander out to know that we are all invested in keeping all students safe!  Thank you!

Nathan Hale Music Marathon

On Tuesday, March 15th, Nathan Hale High School (NHHS) music students will be performing in a 12-hour Music Marathon to help raise money for our music program. Orchestra, choirs, wind ensemble, vocal jazz and jazz band classes, as well as solos, small groups and combos will all be making music and performing throughout the day. Donations to the Music Marathon help fund this year's activities, including equipment, scores and supplies, and financial assistance for trips and lessons. These donations provide critical support for our high quality music program at NHHS.  Donors can participate at THREE DIFFERENT LEVELS and  can pay with CASH, CHECKS payable to NHMB, or CREDIT CARD via the "DONATE" button at  https://nhhsmusicdept.wordpress.com

The Music Marathon will take place at NHHS, 10750 30th AVE NE, from 8:40 a.m. to 8:40 p.m.
The day will come to a close with a special Young Musicians Concert with Walking Tacos dinner (for eligible donors) from 6:40 to 8:40 p.m. in the NHHS Commons.
