Professional Development for newly hired staff
As staff continues to prepare for our move to the new school and the growth of teaching staff, I want to thank parents for their generous support of vital professional development for new staff.  Training in "Responsive Classroom," "Handwriting Without Tears", and "Expeditionary Learning" are essential core skills for new teaching staff.

As we hire new staff this Spring, supporting them to access professional development training next summer will ensure their preparation as they join this dynamic community.

Preparing our building for a move
All of us have likely moved homes at least once in our lives.  Thornton Creek continues to prepare to move into its new home.  As schedules are firmed, I hope that families will be able to help their child's teacher with packing up classrooms and preparing us to move.  School-wide jobs that lie ahead are packing up of our library, art studio and gym.  We would appreciate school families helping with these larger packing efforts.

Later this Spring, storage containers will arrive on site to store packed boxes through the summer.  I will ask teachers to schedule parent packing parties with their families.  Please keep an eye out for that notice from your teacher.

Thornton Creek Student Scientists
We have another terrific evening upcoming in early March.  Pat Boyle and Tracy Fuentes are the parent leads again this year for our annual student Science Fair.
The Thornton Creek Science Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9 from 6-8:30 in the cafeteria.  Look for information and signups are in the newsletter.  40 student scientists have already signed up-come join us for this evening of imagination and invention.

There are 4 categories of project:  Collection, Invention, Experiment or Research Project, so almost any type of project fits.

There will be a mentoring session this coming Wednesday in the library from 6:00-8:00 pm to help with projects and get ready for the fair.

Check the newsletter for more info and where to sign up, or contact patboyle@gmail.com or tracyfuentes@gmail.com.

Student Verification Sheets
Parents, you should be seeing a paper copy of your child's Student Verification Form coming home.  We began sending them on 2/8.  Please review it, make any changes that need to be updated and return the form to school as soon as possible.  Please be sure your address and phone numbers are correct and review your emergency contacts.  If there are no corrections, you can sign and date the form and return it so we know you looked it over.

Thank you so much, Jenny and Cindy
