SALE ENDS TODAY! (January 31, 2013)
All year we field calls and emails from customers asking how they can get a COUPON CODE that is requested online for special discounts/sales. The truth is, we don't do that very often. We pretty much need to sell our items for full price in order to maintain our business. Click here to download a short, but very enlightening article about how consumer-driven discounting ultimately has become a vicious cycle that's undermined the stability of our economy, and has cost more than anyone could have ever imagined. Then, before you order, view this coupon code NOT AS A DISCOUNT, but as a GIFT OF APPRECIATION from us to you.
With that said, in celebration of the successful completion of yet another year - we are offering this gift to all of you who've supported us along the way. Click here to get started. Remember, you need to enter the coupon code TY20 in the special box at checkout time in order to get the discount. The coupon code also works on our CLOSEOUT ITEMS and HALF PRICE ITEMS - so you get even more savings on those already marked-down products! The fine print: Offer ends 1/31/13, and canNOT be used on previously placed orders.
Shown here is our Framed Mule Print titled Stop for a Fix. This lovely picture by Larry Schultz depicts a farrier and mule who are NOT at odds - each a servant carrying a "load". We've paired it with the phrase "You can tell a lot about a man by whether he asks for a light load or a strong back." , double matted it, and framed it with horseshoe (mule shoe) frame stock. You can also add your own custom wording at no extra charge. Click here for details.

Use the discount on HoofPrints' Barn Blade!
Regularly $19.95 - with the 20% discount it's only $15.96
But it was PRICELESS for one HoofPrints customer - here's her story: The barn I board at has about 75 horses. I'm also a working student and I volunteer at a horse rescue. Between being in the fire department and being a trail guide out in Colorado 10 years I always carry a knife. My Leatherman walked away so I got the pink one because it was distinctive and I liked the inscription. It's mostly hung out in my pocket until last night. When new horses come to Freedom Hill Horse Rescue they start out in the quarantine barn for 2 weeks just to be safe. We just got 2 and I hadn't met them yet. I was in the office thawing (I know Maryland isn't as bad as a lot of places but this week has been nuts) when someone said the handyman needed help up at quarantine because one of the new ones was cast. I grabbed my trainer and we drove up so we'd have the headlights. She had gotten wedged against the stall door and when he opened it to try to help her, her head and front legs came out the door and she got completely stuck. My talent lies in calming horses down so I talked to her while we tried to figure out how to help. She broke the wall so we were moving boards and buckets and anything else. She was wearing 2 blankets layered, really nice strong ones, and we had to cut them off so she could move enough to get free. It took 5 of us 45 minutes at least, and she didn't have a scratch on her. It could have gone so wrong. We just kept saying thank God I had a good knife. For now we're calling her Angel - she is gorgeous, a big grey, the size 84 blanket was snug. She is so regal though. Once she gets some weight on I cannot wait to see what she becomes. So thank you for helping us save her. I really thought she was going to get badly enough injured that we'd lose her. Lots of power in a little pink package :) " -Laura R, MD Gina's note: Thanks to Laura for sharing this story with a happy ending. She's working on getting some pictures of Angel, and I will do a follow up story soon.

SAVE $10.00 on this awesome book - Lorenzo the Flying Frenchman
Last time we talked about this book, and I outlined how the section of the book that tells about his acquisition of the six grey horses shown on the cover is worth the price of the whole book; He went to Portugal and purchased a mob of unhandled 2-year-old fillies. Descriptive terms used are "wild and unruly", "real little devils", "wild as a pack of young wolves" As you can see, the transformation is remarkable. Throughout this book you will follow Lorenzo through his childhood, the development of his training methods, and finally as a renowned performer. And yes, he does occasionally fall off and get hurt. The book talks candidly about that, too. It's a wonderful addition to any equine library.
It's profusely illustrated throughout with big color photos chronicling the training process and the performances. Most impressive to me is the pleasant expressions that all the horses wear, in all the photos. Ever see a group of mares confined in close proximity to each other? Most likely everybody in the gang wasn't smiling. Probably there was some scowling and ear pinning going on. Lorenzo's got these girls so busy with their jobs that they practically look like they're whistling while they work! Never mind the bridleless roman riding... getting 6 mares not to look crabby at each other is the real feat!
This hardcover book is pretty pricey at it's regular retail of $34.95. We've marked it down by $10. to just $24.95. Use the Customer Appreciation Discount (TY20) at checkout and the final price is just $19.96! To order click here.

Here's one of our wackier promotions...
Horsey Scented Candles FREE with every order over $50.00
Gina's Note:
After our regular supplier of Leather, Hay, Odor Eliminator and Puppy's Breath Scented Candles went out of business, we went on the hunt for replacements. We found lots of exciting prospects, and ordered a ton of samples from several different vendors.
Anyone who thinks running a mail order business might be easy and fun - needs to walk a mile in my candle-buying shoes. We just couldn't get together with any of the prospective suppliers. Some of the candles, while they had really cool horsey names, were just regular, unremarkable scents. Another vendor had pretty good scents, but couldn't do the packaging as we needed. The one who had the best scents AND the perfect packaging ended up telling us she "didn't have time" to fill our orders!
So, we are taking a sabbatical from the candle-reselling business. And we are turning loose of all these wonderful samples. One per customer, FREE for the asking, with every order over $50.00. Each is one of a kind, so we choose for you from scents like Hayride, Wet Boots, Whinny for a Treat, It's A Foal, Rollin' In The Hay, Saddles 'n Spurs, Good Smellin' Cowboy, Hot to Trot, and more.
A $10.00 VALUE!
FREE for the asking, with every order over $50.00 while supplies last.
Limit - one per customer. To reserve yours click here.

Meeting God in My Newspaper
"Sometimes there is so little time for prayer in my life," I said to a woman at a conference, "for taking moments to be in God's Presence."
"Do you read the newspaper?" she asked.
I nodded, wondering what the newspaper had to do with it.
"Each morning I carry out a spiritual exercise with the paper," she said. "Not only does it save time, but it enriches my prayer life and my reading."
She began on the front page, praying for each event. "Sometimes my heart is torn by all the tragedy, and I feel God hurting along with me for all His children. But there is also some good news, and I try to praise God and thank Him for each occurrence."
The local news was where she listened for any prompting God might give her-writing a letter about a council vote or bringing clothes to a needy family. At the announcements, she prayed for each marriage, each baby. At the obituaries, she prayed for the families of those who had died.
Over the comic strips, she opened herself to God's healing through laughter and found God present in her joy. "Do you think your prayers have made much difference in the world?" I asked.
"Oh yes," she said, "but it begins with me."

ABOUT THE COMPANY AND THIS NEWSLETTER
|
Farriers Greeting Cards was started by Gina Keesling in 1986 (in a very small way) to provide helpful promotional materials for farrier husband Rob. Along the way we became HoofPrints.com, too, adding a selection of fun horse and dog products geared toward women of a certain age. This newsletter is emailed to subscribers a few times a month, depending on how often I have something to share. Watch for special sales, interesting stories, uplifting quotes and more.

Viral marketing... it sounds bad, doesn't it? You can ask my husband - a frequent topic around here is that of forwarded emails - and the psychology behind them - just WHAT prompts people to decide; "I am going to send this to everyone I know!".
We receive a lot of them. Some are pretty good, and others are dumb. Dumb in a myriad of ways... Alarmist email rumors that have been around forever - that folks keep sending "just in case it's true" Pictures of someone's butt (or worse) - don't even get me started about the firecracker butt - but at least that one was timely when it showed up around July 4. Christian messages that are uplifting - until you get to the end and you're threatened "if you're not ashamed that you love Jesus, forward this - if you are, then delete." Pictures of cute puppies and kittens (awww)
I enjoy writing these newsletters - and sharing all this stuff with you all. But the fact is, it's also a way to help us stay connected with customers and sell products during the time between catalog mailings (which is only once a year) So I really, really like it when someone new stumbles upon the newsletter and is excited to "discover" our company and the products we offer.
In all my efforts to make the newsletter interesting and forward-worthy - it never occurred to me to JUST ASK you all to send it! Duh. Sometimes the obvious is elusive, I guess. So here goes - my request to ask you to forward our email newsletter to your horsey friends. All we ask is that you please be judicious and only send to folks who might be interested. Otherwise we are no better than the "firecracker butt". Click to get started. (please note - using this form does NOT subscribe anyone to our list - it is a one-time only forward)
