Legislative WRPA - Current Events
Governor Inslee staked out his turf on the budget with a Thursday release of his priorities - principally a plan for $1.2 billion in new K-12 education investment paid for in "half and half" style from a) extending B&O tax and beer tax surcharges; and b) proposing to close a series of tax loopholes and preferences. Most importantly for us, the Governor proposed a $75.5 million funding level for the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) and a $23.7 million general fund assistance level for State Parks.
League Fees: In light of the recent Skyhawks ruling that their camps are not subject to Retail Sales Tax, Kirkland requested a ruling on camps they contract with Skyhawks as well as camps run by the City. Department of Revenue granted the city a consistent ruling in which they are not subject to sales tax! Ruling

Boating Infrastructure Grants
The Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) is accepting applications for the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) program. BIG funds are given to public and private facility operators across the state for development of boating facilities for guest recreational boats 26 feet and larger. The first round of applications are due to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in early May, so RCO has established an expedited schedule for applicants who need funding this fall. More |
