Greetings!,

"Advent is the perfect time to begin a search for where Jesus resides among us. Just as the scribes neither recognized John the Baptist as the new Elijah, or Jesus as the Human One, we may not always recognize the Christ who dwells among us.

"Into whose face will we first look to find Jesus today? Will we find him in those we know so well or do we dare to look further, even in darker places? Will we find Jesus in the face of a homeless woman cradling a hungry child; in the face of a coke addict; in a young African-American boy wearing a hoodie; in one whose lifestyle may not be to our liking; in a CEO or perhaps a torturer; in a man about to be executed by the state; in a Latino family trying to cross a barren desert to a better life; in the grief-stricken faces of an Afghan family whose children have been killed by U.S. 'accidental bombing'; in the cages at Guantánamo; or in those children abused by men of the cloth? Where will we find Jesus today?"

~from Sr. Dianna Ortiz, OSU, in Voices of Hope,

Along with many of you, I am reading the daily reflections in Voices of Hope, Women of Wisdom: Reflections for Advent 2012. There is an unusual goodness, a sweet connectedness I think, in knowing that so many of us are reading the same words each day, reflecting on peace with justice as we enter more deeply into the Advent season. This past week, in addition to the thousands who have purchased the booklet, another 4,000 people visited the website to read Marie Dennis' reflection for the first Sunday of Advent. We've located all of this year's Advent resources on one page of the site to make it easy for you to find what you're looking for and to which you can direct your friends and family members. We'll also continue to draw on past Advent reflection booklets to share reflections with you through the email network for Sundays and holy days throughout the season. The reflection for the Second Sunday of Advent will go up on the website tomorrow (and be sent out on Sunday), a PSA e-bulletin for the second week of Advent will go out tomorrow, and the reflection for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be posted late Friday afternoon and be sent out on Saturday.

Below you'll find links to a number of items which we posted or sent out over the past month and which we think are still relevant and of interest. We hope you'll find them useful in your work for peace and justice in your own communities. As always, we are grateful for your ongoing witness to the peace of Christ!
