| Call for First Vice President Nominations | |
The Leadership Development Task Force is seeking nominations for filling the unexpired term of First Vice President 2012-13. If you are interested, please notify Vince Keenan (vkeenan@iafp.com) by Mon., May 6, at noon. Please send a cover email indicating willingness to serve, a resume and answers to the following questions:
1. Identify areas where you have skills, experience or interest (such as finance, public relations, health information technology, CME, GME, and/or government relations).
2. Describe how you can help IAFP and why you wish to be an officer that may succeed the IAFP President-elect.
The successful candidate will serve as IAFP first vice president from May 14 through November 9, 2013and must be able to participate in the following 2013 events:
- IAFP board webinar/teleconference, Tues., Aug. 27, 8-9 pm CT
- Attend AAFP Congress of Delegates, San Diego, Sun., Sept. 22 through Weds., Sept. 25 (IAFP provides travel reimbursement)
- Preside over IAFP All Member Assembly, Sat., Nov 9 at the Hyatt Lisle.
The Leadership Development Task Force will review candidates and provide recommendations to the board of directors at the May 13th meeting. Questions? Reminder: SB 2187 ACTION ALERT
Contact your House Representative - TODAY!!
Last week, the Senate passed SB2187 which would allow psychologists to prescribe medication in the state of Illinois without adequate medical training. The bill has been assigned to the House Health Care Licenses Committee for a hearing on May 8th at 8:30 am.
We believe that all members of the House should be contacted and educated now should the bill advance. Thank you to those who made phone calls after the action alert email on Wednesday.

Medicaid-Medicare Parity payment attestation update
As of Jan. 1 Illinois Medicaid payment rates must equal Medicare for primary care services. Make sure you get this new payment rate for your services retroactive to Jan. 1. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services has a Web based Certification and Attestation for Primary Care Rate Increase. This feature allows providers to submit their attestations directly to the department electronically. Once eligibility for this program has been approved, physicians will receive a new Provider Information Sheet from the department identifying a new specialty code has been added to the provider database. Physicians who do not receive a new provider information sheet within thirty (30) days may contact the Provider Participation Unit (PPU) by telephone at 217-782-0538 or by sending an e-mail to HFS.PPU@illinois.gov. Illinois Health Connect Provider Survey
Illinois Health Connect encourages all in-network Medical Homes to fill out a PCP survey, so they can gauge successes and failures, and make the necessary changes for continued program refinement. Please fill it out by June 1. Link to the survey
New School Requirement for Tdap Vaccination
Illinois Department of Public Health issued a Letter to Health Care Providers outlining the new rule and acceptable documentation.
An updated Provider Checklist for the 6th - 8th grade requirement has been developed by the IAFP, ICAAP & the Chicago Area Immunization Council (CAIC). A letter explaining the new requirement and accepted documentation for parents is now available in English and Spanish.

Trina Scott, MD of Bloomington is featured in the April 30 issue of the Bloomington Pantagraph for the completion and opening of her Immanuel Health Center which will provide medical care and spiritual support for patients. The clinic will serve uninsured, as well as patients with public insurance and private insurance coverage.
Executive Vice President Vincent Keenan, CAE authored an article on audience response systems at live education meetings for FORUM magazine, the publication of the Association Forum.
