Wow! This year really Snuck up on me. I hope you are planning a great Thanksgiving week.
This time of year it's natural for the theme of thanksgiving to be everywhere. It's become the traditional kick off for the Christmas season. All the hoopla got me to thinking though, what is the real significance of "Giving Thanks"? It has to be about more than eating too much and watching football.
We are all thankful for the good things, the blessings in our lives aren't we? Here's a little secrete I've learned. We need to be thankful for everything that happens in our lives. Yes, even the "nothings" and the worse than nothings.
You see, if we're not thankful for the mistakes we are destined to repeat them. If we're not thankful for the failures we can't learn from them. If we're not thankful for the tragedies our hearts become harder and blessings harder to find.
Being thankful for everything is a choice. For some of us it just doesn't come naturally. It may go against everything you feel, but it is essential to living the life that God has for you.
Every decision we make in life starts us on a path and the farther we go down that path the more the momentum builds and more of what that path has to offer is attracted to us. Decide today to start down the path of thankfulness for everything in your life and watch what happens.
It really comes down to trust doesn't it, but that's a topic for another time. Have your best Thanksgiving ever.
