Local Support Aids iDatix Expansion in Clearwater

St. Petersburg College has collaborated with ConMed Linvatec, BioDerm and Bovie Medical to form one of three partnerships in the country to integrate more deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals into skilled technical careers. The DeafTEC program presents resources for employers to help create an accessible workplace for deaf and hard-of-hearing workers, as well as tools for recruiting, interviewing, training and retaining technically-skilled deaf and hard-of-hearing employees. Attention Manufacturers: The Tampa Bay Manufacturing Skills Survey needs your input, business experience and expertise.  This survey is in two parts, and each section should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.  Your individual answers to the survey will remain confidential, and a summary of the results will be made available to all respondents. The goal of this survey is to:
  • determine the skills most in demand by area employers,
  • develop recommendations to increase the number of manufacturing workers in the region, and
  • help allocate the necessary resources for manufacturing training.

Research Finds Florida SBDCs Have Substantial Impact on State's Economy 

Fostering entrepreneurship and growing small businesses are the foundation for job creation and our state's economic vitality. Governor Rick Scott, quoted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses, stated "Small businesses are the fabric of our local communities and the backbone of the Florida's economy." As one of Florida's most important economic contributors, small businesses employ over 42 percent of the Florida's workforce and represent 98 percent of the state's firms.  New research on small businesses in Florida validates this claim. According to an independent study conducted by the Haas Center for Business Research and Economic Development, Economic Impact of SBDC Business Development Activities on the Florida Economy, 2012, the Florida SBDC Network program helped entrepreneurs create, retain and save a total of 43,856 jobs across the state at a significantly low cost of $119 per jobread more...

Tampa Bay Innovation Center is now accepting applications for StartUp Studio 1.0
