Need A Location to Expand in The Ideal Business Climate of Pinellas County?

PCED Launches New Pinellas Commercial Real Estate Database

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (Jan. 18, 2013) - Pinellas County Economic Development (PCED) today launched the new Pinellas Commercial Real Estate Database, powered by GIS Planning's ZoomProspector.

The new database incorporates geographic information systems (GIS) mapping technology and is designed to allow expanding businesses, entrepreneurs and site selectors to easily find available commercial buildings and sites in Pinellas County.  It will also bring increased visibility to development and redevelopment opportunities in Pinellas.

"Research has shown that growing businesses and site selection consultants frequently compile their shortlist of expansion locations using primarily online resources," explained Mike Meidel, Director of Pinellas County Economic Development.  "We want to ensure we make that shortlist, so we've engaged ZoomProspector to help us create the Pinellas Commercial Real Estate Database.  We expect this tool to ease the task of finding suitable properties in Pinellas, and increase the number and quality of prospects who are interested in a Pinellas location for their business."

Pinellas County Economic Development is collaborating with their municipal partners to list surplus public properties available to buyers and highlight areas ready for redevelopment.

One of the advantages of the new system is the ease of listing properties.  Realtors who are members of the Florida Gulfcoast Commercial Association of Realtors (FGCAR) will have their properties automatically updated and included seamlessly through a data-feed from FGCAR's Catalyst database of properties.

Commercial Realtors who are not FGCAR members, municipal partners and local businesses may request a free account and upload their commercial property listings at no charge.

In addition to searching for commercial sites, the new database features a host of additional tools for entrepreneurs, business owners and economic development professionals.

  • Search functions to find buildings, sites, local businesses or explore Pinellas communities, and more filters that allow the searches to seek specific criteria beyond square feet and sales price.
  • Market analysis functions that map demographic data, consumer expenses and labor force information, including details about each of Pinellas County's municipalities.
  • Map layers visible in the "Overlays" option allow users to determine if a property is within a Brownfield, Enterprise Zone or Hub Zone or near rail lines, airports or other infrastructure critical when selecting a business location.
  • GIS tools to analyze demographic information in user-drawn polygons.

Pinellas County Economic Development plans outreach sessions and webinars for both users and Realtors to help demonstrate all of the capabilities of the new Pinellas Commercial Real Estate Database.
