Fort Bend ISD Approves 2016-17 District Calendar
During a regular board meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved a 2016-17 District Calendar that includes 176 days of instruction and an additional 20 daily instructional minutes at all levels. 
Employee Incentive Program (EIP) funds
The Fort Bend ISD Employee Incentive Plan has been amended to allow for in-service distributions. If your account has not had a contribution for two (2) years, your account balance is less than $5,000 and you are 100% vested in the account, you qualify for an in-service distribution from the plan. You may access the distribution form online at www.region10rams.org. If you have questions relating to your Employee Incentive Plan account, please contact JEM Resources directly at 1-800-943-9179.

Congratulations Fort Bend ISD
2016 Campus Teachers of the Year!
Fort Bend ISD is proud to announce the names of the 2016 FBISD Campus Teachers of the Year. Voted on by their peers, these 75 individuals represent the best in education, based on their ability to inspire, equip and prepare students for futures beyond what they can imagine. Each of the honorees will go on to compete for the title of District Elementary or Secondary Teacher of the Year Finalist.
 
All Campus Teachers of the Year, along with the District Finalists and District Rookie Teachers of the Year, will be honored on April 19 at the District's annual Teacher of the Year Banquet.

Fort Bend ISD honors its Board of Trustees during School Board Recognition Month
Fort Bend ISD honored its seven-member Board of Trustees at the January 19 Regular Board Meeting, recognizing them for their strong and unyielding commitment to the District's students, staff, parents and community. FBISD's elected Board Members include: Grayle James, President; Dave Rosenthal, Vice President; Kristin Tassin, Secretary; and members Jason Burdine, KP George, Addie Heyliger and Jim Rice.

Kennedy Center selects FBISD and the Alley Theatre for its Partners in Education Program
In April 2016, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host the Annual Partners in Education Institute, and Fort Bend ISD will be among the groups to participate. FBISD, in partnership with the Alley Theatre, is among 10 teams of school systems and arts organizations from across the nation to be selected to participate in the program this year. As one of the newest partnership teams, FBISD and the Alley Theatre will join the Partners in Education program's nearly 100 partnership teams representing 42 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.  more ...

Quail Valley Elementary Principal named finalist in Rather Award Program
Quail Valley Elementary School Principal Shenique Spears is one of 10 finalists named in the Rather Prize award program that recognizes the best ideas for improving education in the state of Texas. The award program welcomed more than 100 entries from students and educators from across the state. The winner will receive a $10,000 educational grant to implement his/her innovative idea and an opportunity to promote the idea at South by Southwest 2016 .

The February FBISD Board of Trustees meetings will be held on the following dates:
  • February 8 - Public Hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Report, 5:30 p.m.
  • February 8 - Called Meeting and Agenda Review Workshop, 6:00 p.m.
  • February 15 - Regular Board Meeting, 6:00 p.m.
  • February 29, Called Meeting and Workshop, 6:00 p.m.

Seen Around the Bend: Superintendent and Executive Team
Our cameras caught Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dupre and the Executive Team (including Deputy Superintendent Dr. Christie Whitbeck, Chief of Staff and Strategic Planning Beth Martinez, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Phillys Hill, Chief Communications Officer Nancy Porter, Chief Financial Officer Steven Bassett, Chief Human Resources Officer Kermit Spears, Chief Information Officer Long Pham and Chief Operations Officer Max Cleaver) serving a catered lunch to Quail Valley Elementary (QVE) staff. The QVE staff won the honor after selling the most tickets to the Fort Bend Education Foundation's Sugar Shindig. Representatives from the Education Foundation joined staff from Child Nutrition's Catering Services in supplying the superintendent and E-Team with the necessary utensils and ingredients they need to make the lunch an enjoyable experience for the QVE staff.
