Environment      
     Small Grants Program    

Description

GFW is supported by a diverse range of partners that contribute data, technical capabilities, funding, and expertise. The partnership is convened by the World Resources Institute.

The Small Grants Fund provides financial and technical support to civil society organizations that want to use Global Forest Watch in their research, advocacy, and fieldwork. The Small Grants Fund seeks applications for projects that use or contribute to Global Forest Watch.

Eligibility:
 

Organizations must meet the following criteria: 

 

 1. Certified non-profit and non-governmental.  

2. Be implementing projects at a regional, national or sub-national level.

3. Have an annual budget of greater than $30,000 USD 

4. Have computerized financial systems for tracking and recording expenses  

5. Be able to fill out an organizational assessment document (containing questions regarding the organization's finances) in fluent English

Social Services, Aging, Health
Healthcare Access Mobility Design Challenge

Description:
The Design Challenge will assist selected communities in creating an impactful and sustainable service that addresses healthcare transportation challenges in their community. This opportunity is made possible with funding from the Federal Transit Administration through the federal Ladders of Opportunity Initiative; one aim of the initiative is to leverage healthcare and transportation partnerships to improve individual and family health and reduce healthcare costs.

The four healthcare access challenges that will be the focus of the selected teams' work are:
  1. Access to preventive care, primary care, and/or health education opportunities
  2. Access to ongoing dialysis treatment for people with end stage renal disease
  3. Access to post-hospitalization medical appointments, rehabilitation therapy, and other services to help people avoid re-hospitalization.
  4. Access to behavioral health treatment.

Education
Champion Creatively Alive Children Grant



Description:  
 

The 2015 program provides grants for innovative, creative leadership team building within elementary schools. In addition, each program will receive an in-kind grant of Crayola products valued at $1,000.

  

Examples of creative leadership projects include building a creativity professional development plan that includes a series of workshops delivered by teachers, for teachers; bringing in an arts organization that has expertise in integrating art across the curriculum and having a series of training workshops followed up by co-teaching sessions so the information gets embedded into classroom teachers' practices; and organizing grade-level creativity teams who have monthly collaboration meetings where they design lessons and coach each other to implement art-infused cross-curricular lessons.
