Greetings!
It's winter here in Minnesota and the temps have been cold. Record setting cold. We've had a home remodeling project going on the past month and due to the chaos, saw dust and the need to stay indoors, I'm beginning to feel as if the walls are closing in on me.
As we walk on drop cloths, step over tools and carefully navigate around the toilet sitting in the living room, I'm reminded of why I like an organized home. There's such peace that comes with knowing where things are at when I need them.
This month's Transforming Times contains information on keeping important documents safe in your home. Because when you know where important documents are, you'll sleep better at night knowing they are safe and sound.
Ready for the peace to return,

Keeping Important Things Safe
| |
When setting up house for the first time, most young adults focus on what they deem the important stuff...things like a flat screen TV, furniture to sit on and a bed to sleep in. Their concerns rarely go beyond the basic necessities.
This year at Christmas, we gave our married daughter and son-in-law something they probably considered quite unusual. A home safe. I included a list of items to be stored (see below) for safekeeping which they got a chuckle out of since it was printed on Organized Audrey stationery. Over the years, I've seen far too many homes where important documents are randomly stored in piles or files of papers, rarely accessible due to chaos and clutter. Incredible amounts of stress and energy are expelled in locating these important items; and sometimes, important documents have to be recreated or replaced due to the fact that they just can't be found. This costs money and brings with it unnecessary stress and anxiety. You can choose to store important documents and valuables in a safety deposit box or a home safe. The latter is far more convenient and you'll be more apt to safely store an item vs. waiting to make a trip to a local bank. There are a variety of shapes, sizes and styles of home safes. Read Consumer Report's Choosing and Using a Home Safe to find out what is best for you. Sentry offers an online tool to figure out the best type and size of safe for your needs. Please note: For storing electronic data such as video tapes, CD's, DVD's and flash drives, you should store these items in a safe designed for electronic storage. Whether you choose to use a safety deposit box or a home safe, read on for a list of documents you should have in safe keeping. |
