Reducing Email -- One Friday at a time
|
Has this ever happened to you? You meet someone new at a conference, networking event or other function and you exchange business cards. Once you return to your office you add them to the address book of your Contact Management software like Outlook, Salesforce.com or Lotus notes. Time passes and you find you need this person's contact information but can't remember their name or their company name.
Using the "Search" function is a possibility but only if you can remember some part of their contact information. Sorting by Category is another option, but only if you assigned a category to begin with.
In most CMS programs, you can add details for your contacts. In the example below, I've included where I met this person (Chamber event) as well as a common connection we have (Target Corporation). If I had trouble recalling this person's name, I would no doubt remember either "Chamber" or "Target" in which to search by.

In the future, when adding a new contact, take a few moments to include descriptive words or detail that will help you find it in the future. |
