"The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit."
- Joseph H. Pilates
Greetings!
Joseph Pilates words above really help define how Pilates is different from other forms of exercise. How many times have you found yourself in an exercise class doing mindless repetitions with no idea what correct form even means? Pilates exercises are so precise and require mental focus in order to complete them correctly. It is so unique to concentrate on the form and execution of the exercise rather than thinking about how much longer do I need to keep doing this!
Thank you for your help in helping us make a difference in our community. Last month's charity class raised over $400 for Love Your Melon, a local charity to raise money for kids fighting cancer! Our next Charity class will be on Sunday, March 3 @ 2:30 pm (there is 4 spots left!). It will be taught by Sonia Berglund to support food donation for IOCP! This will be a full body workout using the Fun Foam Roller, Terrific Tower, and Refreshing Reformer! All that is required is to bring non-perishable food to donate. Open to all levels. Limited to 10 people. Feel free to bring a guest or two! Sign Up NowMark your calendars! May 4 is Moving DayŽ - a day to move, a day that will move you and a day to move others. Moving DayŽ - May 4, 2013
| People who move change the world! Moving DayŽ is taking place across the country. The event is part of the plan to raise awareness and money for Parkinson's. Money raised will continue to support education, outreach, respite and more through NPFM. NPF recruited Katie Couric, whose father had Parkinson's, to help promote Moving Day nationally. NPF also brought onboard national sponsors such as Medtronic, Right at Home, Teva Neurosciences and UCB. And while every attendee will receive a gift for participating- participants who raise at least $100 earn a Moving Day T-shirt. In 2012, nearly 3,000 people attended Moving Day, including people with Parkinson's, families, friends, health care professionals and family teams. Again in 2013 we will walk and enjoy music, food, family photos, and activities in the Movement Pavilion such as chair exercises, PowerUp and more. If you're walking, you may choose from three paths: 2.5 miles, 1.6 miles or .25 miles. It's a day to walk a little, walk a lot, move in the pavilion. You will want to check in with a local sponsor, PilatesMN to learn specific Pilates movements for Parkinson's disease. May 4 is a day to move, a day that will move you And a day to move others. Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the Pilates MN Group walking together that day. Contact Us or call 952-476-0304.
