JINSA Announces Speakers for Fall National Leadership Meeting

JINSA CEO Makovsky Authors Editorial on Iranian Cheating in The Weekly Standard

Sunday, October 18, isn't just a day of baseball playoffs and pro football games. It's "Adoption Day," when all parties to the Iran nuclear deal must begin preparing to implement its terms. And while the Obama administration takes another opportunity to pat itself on the back for its achievement, Iran has offered the international community a clear signal of what it thinks about its obligations under the deal, as well as its strategic intentions. Just a week before Adoption Day, Iran test-fired a new precision-guided ballistic missile capable of delivering a 1,600-pound warhead to Israel or even southeastern Europe and designed to evade missile defense systems.

New Members Join JINSA Board of Advisors

JINSA is proud and honored to announce the addition of four new members to our Board of Advisors:

Former Commander, United States Transportation Command

18th Superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy

58th Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy

Former Director of Strategy, Plans, and Policy for U.S. Northern Command and NORAD

Our nation is increasingly reliant on technology to manage and monitor the network of systems that deliver our basic goods and services, and our system for generating and distributing electricity is the core of this network. A failure here could cascade across other vital national infrastructures, severely disrupting everything we take for granted, from food and water to cell service and sewer systems. However, little has been done to take the necessary steps to protect our infrastructures, thus our vulnerability only continues to increase.

JINSA CEO Dr. Michael Makovsky was quoted in The Washington Post on Iranian missile testing.

On October 15, Israel's Air Force Attaché to the United States Colonel Shai Katav visited the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as part of JINSA's Military Academies Program. More than 20 cadets and faculty members attended the discussion intended to familiarize the cadets with the challenges facing Israel today.

On October 29, the newly appointed Israeli Ground Forces Attaché Col. Yaron Formoza visited the Military Academy at West Point as part of JINSA's Military Academies Program. Col. Formoza addressed Israel's current strategic challenges in the changing Middle East and answered questions on a variety of topics including the role of media in conflicts involving democracies, social media trends and challenges, and U.S.-Israel relations moving forward, focusing especially on the the space for cooperation.

On October 12, JINSA CEO Dr. Michael Makovsky and Rep. Ed Royce, Chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee addressed National Leaders in Los Angeles about lessons learned and a way forward after the Iran nuclear deal. The event was held at the home of JINSA Leaders Ardyth and Sam Freshman.

Israel is currently facing five different types of security incidents: Terrorist attacks involving firearms, stabbing attacks, violent riots, the stoning and firebombing of vehicles, and attempts to breach the Israel - Gaza Strip border. On October 7, JINSA leaders were briefed by Gemunder Center Distinguished Fellow Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror. The former national security advisor to Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed the recent violence in Israel, Russian intervention in Syria, security concerns in Gaza, and took questions from JINSA leaders.
