iPhone donations: If you are getting the new iPhone/iPad, please consider donating your old iPhone (5 or higher) to the Walton High School media center. We would like to have a collection of BYOD devices for student check out. All donations are tax deductible. Please contact Dr. Mallanda at catherine.mallanda@cobbk12.org to make a donation.
Health and Wellness Menu Planning Information Session: - Please join us for an informational session led by Jill Gregory, Board Certified Nutritionist and Certified Personal Trainer on Tuesday, September 29th from 10:00am - 11:30am at WellStar East Cobb Health Park at 3747 Roswell Road, Marietta. We will provide several options for simple Menu Planning that help to sustain your energy throughout the day. Come to sample some of the suggested items! Parents (and young children!) are all welcome.
Special Education - Parent Sessions: In collaboration with the Cobb County School District, 9th District PTA is hosting a series of parent information sessions that will address special education topics. Please join us on September 28 at 6:30pm at Dickerson Middle School for the first of these meetings which will be an overview of the Division of Teaching and Learning Support and Service. Summer Enrichment Trip: St. George's University Med/Vet Summer Leadership Academy in Granada offers the opportunity of a lifetime for high school students (age 15-17) interested in the field of medicine or veterinary medicine. The Academy offers courses that combine didactic lectures, small-group problem solving sessions, practical lab work in state-of-the art facilities, and hands-on training through simulated and real-life situations. Senior Breakfast: The annual tradition of the Senior Breakfast Price Is Right Game Show is right around the corner. In the past, we have relied on the generous support of our parents to donate prizes for this event and this year is no different! If you would like to contribute a prize, your donation would be gratefully appreciated. Prizes range in size and price, so there is sure to be something for everyone. ASVAB The ASVAB will be administered on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 to Juniors and Seniors. The registration deadline is October 5th, 2015. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. Students will register using Naviance Family Connection. To register, go to the Naviance page and Log In; Click on Colleges Tab; Click on All Upcoming College Visits; Locate ASVAB and Click on Sign Up; Click on Sign me Up. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Prosser or Ms. Clary in the counseling office.
PSAT Information and Registration: The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th during the school day. The 10th graders are already registered as the State pays for their test. If you have a 9th or 11th grader and have not already paid for them to take the test, please do so ASAP. The cost is $15.00. Please have your child come to the records room and see Mrs. Schrenk.
