Raiders' Choice Career Exploration Series. This week during WEB at 1:00 in the Theater, professionals will give our students a glimpse into their careers in Finance and Private Equity Investment. Learn what your day would be like if you were a CFO, an Actuary or your business owned a ski resort or pro hockey team. Please encourage your children to come and explore the possibilities for their future. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded! Spring Clean Sweep: On Saturday, 3/21, from 11:00-2:00, come help spruce up the Walton hallways and earn service hours. We will furnish the supplies and the pizza if you will come furnish the elbow grease! You can work the whole shift or just an hour. Bring a friend and report to the front atrium for instructions. Parents, we can use your help to supervise and clean too. No early sign up required, but clubs or large groups planning to attend should contact Brian Cuthrell, PTSA Special Projects Chair at bscjmc@bellsouth.net

Expedition to Dominica. The Walton Science Department is hosting an informational session about our second exciting expedition to Dominica in the Caribbean during the summer of 2016 to participate in collecting data for biodiversity studies for environmental and ecological research scientists. This research is hands-on science at its best! The meeting will be held in Dr. Camp's classroom, E-181 on Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 pm. The 2015 Jackie Auerbach Award. The WHS PTSA is proud to sponsor the Jackie Auerbach award to recognize the extraordinary contributions Walton Staff Members make, not only to educating our children, but to enhancing their overall high school experience. Teachers Need TISSUES! KERCHOO!! The average classroom at WHS goes through 10 boxes of tissues a month! The PTSA provided classroom hygiene kits full of supplies to our teachers at the beginning of each semester but the teachers are already out of tissues, so we are having a March RESTOCK TISSUE Drive. Please send in tissues any day this week. If your child's last name starts with A-L, send 1 or 2 boxes of tissues with your child to give to their 1st Period Teacher. If your child's last name starts with M-Z, please send 1 or 2 boxes of tissues to your child's 2nd Period Teacher. Thanks for helping to keep our students healthy!
Beach Book Giveaway. The Media Center is sponsoring its 2nd annual Beach Book Giveaway during May. They are collecting books for readers of all ages. The books will be displayed in the media center and offered free to students, teachers, staff and visitors. The Media Center is hoping to have a wide variety of books that patrons can select, books for children, students, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors. As you do your spring cleaning, please consider donating used books in good condition to the Media Center. Books can be dropped off at the front desk Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. now through May 2. Contact Barb Beaver ( Barbara.beaver@cobbk12.org) with questions, to arrange for pick-up, or to schedule a different drop-off time. Thanks for helping us support literacy and a love for reading in the Walton community.
PTSA Bylaw Modification. WHS PTSA Board of Directors has approved an amendment to our By-Laws. We will hold a vote on this amendment at our April 20, 5:30 p.m. General Meeting. "Human Trafficking" Presentation. On March 17 at 7:00 PM in Lassiter High School's small theater, Attorney General Sam Olens will lead a panel discussion regarding "Human Trafficking." This program is sponsored by Rocky Mount Counseling Department, PTA and Foundation and is not to be missed! For details see, Human Trafficking Presentation and link to video, Video.

PTSA Raider Pride Scholarship: Seniors who have won the Raider Pride Award at any time during their WHS career are eligible to apply for the Raider Pride Scholarship Award. These $1000 Scholarships will be awarded to one Senior Boy and one Senior Girl at Honors Night by the WHS PTSA. Applications and letters of recommendation should be turned in to the front office by 4:00pm on Friday, April 3. Random Acts of Kindness Club sponsors Book Drive. We are conducting a book drive for 1st graders at Eastvalley Elementary, many of whom do not have many books in their homes. Please bring in your new or gently used children's books to either Mrs. Merlin's Room in G104, Coach Kay's Room in G111, or to the front office! This is a great time to clean off the shelves full of your children's old books (we cannot accept any books with religious or political content). All books need to be turned in by March 23rd. We greatly appreciate the continued support from our wonderful Walton community!
Interact Club sponsors Project Mail Call: March 18th is the deadline to contribute items for our military personnel to Project Mail Call. Each homeroom has a grocery bag to be used to collect items. Note that service personnel are particularly in need of protein items. Thanks for helping us promote and collect for this cause. NCAA Lacrosse in Raider Valley! The lacrosse program will be hosting its final NCAA lacrosse game on Sunday, March 22nd at 1:00pm in Raider Valley! The University of Tampa, a 2014 division II Final Four participant and currently ranked #8 in the country, will be taking on Mars Hill College. Tickets are only $5. This is a great way to see a top notch collegiate sporting event right here in East Cobb. Come out and enjoy the day with full concessions including Zaxby's sandwiches while supporting your Walton Lacrosse team!
