Change in W.E.B. date. Due to Georgia Milestones End of Course testing, May 8th will no longer be a WEB day.

 

Raiders' Choice Career Exploration Series. This week during WEB at 1:00 in the Theater, professionals will give our students a glimpse into their careers in Advertising, Publishing, Broadcast Journalism, Graphic Design, and Construction Management. Please encourage your children to come and explore the possibilities for their future. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded to lucky participants. Self-Defense Classes.  During the week of March 8, the PTSA will be sponsoring 3 different self-defense clinics: 

1. Tuesday, March 10th for the Walton Community, open to students, teachers, parents and friends, 7:30 - 9:30 pm in the Auxiliary Gym for a reduced rate of $39 per person. WHS students who have taken on-line health classes may take this course free of charge.

2. Wednesday, March 11th, FREE Senior Girls' Self Defense Class, 1:15 - 3:15 during WEB in the Auxiliary Gym.

3. Wednesday, March 11th for 5th - 8th graders, 7:00 - 9:00 in the Auxiliary Gym for a reduced rate of $39 per person. This program is uniquely designed for 10-14 year olds.

Steven Spivey of Max Defense believes anyone can learn to use the "great equalizers, adrenaline and fear," to successfully defend themselves against a stronger opponent. For more information and to register go to Self Defense.

 

"Human Trafficking" Presentation. On March 17 at 7:00 PM in Lassiter High School's small theater, Attorney General Sam Olens will lead a panel discussion regarding "Human Trafficking." This program is sponsored by Rocky Mount Counseling Department, PTA and Foundation and is not to be missed! For details see, Human Trafficking Presentation and link to video, Video.

East Cobb CHADD. The March 19th meeting will be held from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at Sprayberry 2.0 at 2670 Kinjac Drive, Marietta (this is not the high school). For Sophomores

Cobb Youth Leadership is a leadership development program of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce for rising high school juniors. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to be more involved in their community and develop their leadership style.  While building networks with students from schools across Cobb County, participants will meet monthly with local and regional leaders while discussing topics such as social services, politics, health, arts, history,  etc.  If you are interested in applying for this program, please visit Cobb Youth Leadership for more information and the application. Applications are due April 24, 2015.  

Clubs and Organizations

Walton Science National Honor Society. Applications are being accepted for the 2015-2016 year. Membership is open to rising juniors or rising seniors who have been enrolled in at least one Honors or AP science course during each year of high school, beginning with the sophomore year, and have maintained a 3.5 overall weighted GPA and a 3.7 weighted science GPA. NCAA Lacrosse in Raider Valley! Come out and see Walton Alum Michael Gernatt and the Young Harris Mountain Lions take on the Fighting Knights of Lynn University at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 15th!  This is a great opportunity to see an exciting sporting event in our own backyard while supporting Walton athletics.  Tickets are only $5 and there will be full concessions including Zaxby's sandwiches.
