DSW Opens in Chesterfield
Footwear and accessories retailer DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse held a ribbon cutting to celebrate its newest store, located in the Waterside Marketplace shopping plaza at 50769 Waterside Drive in Chesterfield Township. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and received a $20 off card.

Last Chance to Sponsor Salute to Seniors and Veterans
State Representative Peter J. Lucido is requesting sponsors by Friday, April 1 for his Salute to Seniors & Veterans Benefit Expo.  The expo will be Monday, May 23, 10 am-3 pm, at Palazzo Grande (54660 Van Dyke, Shelby Township).  Sponsorships and vendor tables are available on a first come, first served basis.  Sponsorships are coordinated by District Representative Gary Kopp, who can be reached at 586-873-6906 or gkopp@dlm51.com.   All seniors and veterans from the 36th district will be invited an no cost.  There will be presentations from specialists and organizations at the federal, state and local levels on issues important to seniors, veterans and their families.  All attendees will receive a free lunch.  Click here to view the flyer.

Macomb Symphony Performs Masterpieces
The Macomb Symphony Orchestra - chamber ensemble will perform "Masterpieces of the 18th Century" at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, April 10, 3 pm.  Buy one ticket and get the second ticket half off.  Click here for more information and to buy tickets.

Polar Ecologist and Penguin Expert Speaks at Zoo
The Detroit Zoological Society will host "A Natural Experiment Reveals the Secret World of Gentoo Penguins," a presentation by world-renowned expert Dr. Bill Fraser.  The presentation will be on Sunday, April 10, 6-7:15 pm, at the Zoo's Ford Education Center in Royal Oak.  Dr. Fraser will speak about his four decades of research as head of the Polar Oceans Research Group, which operates out of a research station in Antarctica.  Dr. Fraser served as an advisor on the development of the Zoo's Polk Penguin Conservation Center, scheduled to open April 18.  Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance.  All proceeds will benefit the Polar Oceans Research Group.  Click here for more information.

DIA Hosts Arts and Health Symposium
Detroit Institute of Arts is teaming up with the Arts and Health Michigan Committee to showcase the power of art and creativity in human wellness during the Arts and Health Symposium on Thursday, April 21, 9 am-4:30 pm at the museum.  The day will include a keynote address, panel discussions, lunch and an afterglow with cocktails, refreshments, live entertainment and museum tours.  Tickets are $25 ($10 students) and available by calling 313-833-4005 or visiting tickets.dia.org.
