Baseball's Andy Appleby Shares Secrets
The Macomb County Chamber held its latest Secrets of My Success event on Tuesday, March 22, featuring Andy Appleby of the United Shore Professional Baseball League.  Andy spoke with Chamber CEO Grace Shore about the USPBL's three teams - Utica Unicorns, Eastside Diamond Hoppers and Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers and the new Jimmy John's Field where they'll play.  He shared his thoughts on why Macomb County was chosen as the home of the new league and park.  Games will be played Thursday - Sunday.  For more pictures, click here to go to the Chamber's Facebook page.

Karen Beger and Mashell Carissimi!
For the next four weeks, we will be featuring our eight candidates for the 
May 6 ATHENA International Award Ceremony.

Karen Beger, St. John Providence
Karen has been working with women and the community for much of her career, beginning as a nurse in labor and delivery.  Involved in parish nursing at St. John Providence, she currently oversees a network of more than 80 churches in five counties.  Karen is an active volunteer in her church community and on the Board of Directors for CARE of Southeastern Michigan.  She has been a member of several community coalitions focused on reducing risky behaviors and has partnered with the National Kidney Foundation.  Karen has twin sons, Adam and Ryan.


Mashell Carissimi, JMC Electrical Contractor, LLC
Mashell is the CEO and Owner of JMC.  She served as the treasurer of the National Association of Women in Construction, Detroit chapter.  She is also a Trustee on the National Association of Women Business Owners' EXCEL board and the program manager for NAWBO's Young Entrepreneurs Academy program.  Through JMC, Mashell has donated lighting fixtures and electricians to light the warehouses of local charities and participated in a women's build for Habitat for Humanity.

Credit Union Holds Hiring Event
Central Macomb Community Credit Union is hosting an open interview day on Thursday, March 24, 11 am-1 pm, at its Clinton Township branch (37570 S. CARE of Southeastern Michigan is holding its 4th Annual Bike PATH:  Ride for Recovery on Saturday, September 24 at Lake St. Clair Metro Park.  Sign up to ride by March 31 and be automatically entered to win four tickets to Opening Day at Comerica Park.  This year's winner will be selected and notified on April 1.  Click here for information and to register.


There's Still Time to Enroll for Baker Spring Term
Baker College of Clinton Township continues to enroll students for its 2016 spring quarter.  Classes begin Monday, April 4, with registration continuing through the first week of classes.  Students can take classes on ground at the Clinton Township campus, online or a mix of campus and online.  Baker College Online offers two sessions that begin Thursday, March 31 and Thursday, May 12.  Financial assistance is available.  For information, email annette.looser@baker.edu or call 586-791-3000.  Students can schedule an appointment by visiting www.baker.edu.

The Direct Marketing Association of Detroit is holding its 20th annual Advanced Integrated Marketing Symposium (AIMS) on Wednesday, April 13 at the Motor City Casino Hotel Conference Center in Detroit.  There will be speakers from Penske Corp., Google, General Motors, Pandora and the State of Michigan, as well as the luncheon speaker, J Walker Smith of The Futures Company.  Breakfast, lunch and cocktails are included in the fee.  Click here for more information and to register.
